  1. Nice to see you guys are honest about it all and not covering arse for Seawind or yourselves. Remember boats are a love hate relationship and sailing is 80% bliss and 20% pure terror.

  2. Sorry folks but for those filters to have been blocked so quickly either the shipyard or your good selves have been operating the RO plant in ‘polluted water’. Bit late for this time – best to operate RO in open sea water and avoid in estuaries/harbours or anywhere there is visible debris.

  3. As you become more familiar with your boat, those annoyances will disappear. Hang in there and keep the videos coming. I am living vicariously through them.

  4. Cheers 🍻 not easy but life on water is on my bucket list! Nice that you’re keeping it real hugs 🤗 to both of you! Much ❤ on future adventures are happy ones!

  5. This is what you get when you buy a cheap Chinese catamaran from a manufacturer with dirty, dusty floors and whose employees walk around the workshop in flip-flops and work in squatting positions.

  6. I loved Terysa' s comment about the reason why thy had water problems. This is the most fundamental of ideas that create success. Unless you accept responsibility, then no change is possible. The actual blame is irrelevant. Blame doesn't fix anything either mechanical or relationships. Without exception all progress is made by accepting responsibility. Thank you Terysa for your thoughtful reminder.

  7. If you block the 5 micron and 20 micron pleated pre filters the watermaker high pressure pump will make a hell of a racket. To clean these filters just soak in a bucket of water with a slug of chlorine for a day or so. Rinse well with fresh water then salt water and reinstall. I have a 240 litre per hour Stella and have used this method for the past 4 years. Replace with new pre filters each 6 months or so. Be regular with cleaning like this, especially if you make water from cloudy seawater.

  8. Hi Guys, my wife and I have been on our 42 foot cat for 26 years now and I think that fixing stuff on your boat in exotic locations is not the full story. In my experience cruising is fixing stuff on your boat in any bloody location, exotic or not. Have fun

  9. You can flush a freshwater system with a bucket of seawater if you need to. Having saltwater sitting in lines on the boat is what gives boats that stanky smell sooner or later. We switched to two freshwater 🚽 and it makes a huge difference.

  10. We always keep ~30 filters on board (10x20micron, 10x5micron, 10xcharcoal). Cleaning the 20 and 5 is no problem at all and can be done multiple times as it‘s not the „holes“ that get clogged but the area leading to them. Everything else would be pretty useless in terms of filtering. You‘ll definitely smell that your prefilters need a change when you start the watermaker. One thing that really has helped increase the life of the 20 and 5 is flushing the watermaker (with salt water) for a minute before turning it on. I don‘t know whether the Spectra can do it (probably can) but that‘s a real game changer.
BTW: My wife starts going crazy once we fall below 50% (we have 780l of fresh water)… 😜🤣

  11. How is this even possible? You always top off your water and fuel every time you can, and you should always carry at least 20lt of oil. What if you get an oil leak. It a staggering lack of common sense that could risk lives.

  12. Like everything else in life, something new always comes with learning curves. With your foundation of knowledge and your determination you will both get through this and laugh about it later. Just think about Nikki and Jason going through the same transition a few months from now with even crazier systems to master! You’ll all be fine, just don’t let it put you off your dreams. Best wishes ❤❤❤❤

  13. New boat, many new and unfamiliar systems, rusty crew who have not been actively sailing for 2 years. The learning curve will get less demanding over time. Cheers!
