I'm looking forward to the next edition!
Will there be 65's in the next ocean race? As I understood it the reason there was no a whole fleet was that TOR didn't give them enough notice
I missed these videos. I'm glad you addressed the amazing OBRs, the skill of the teams, and how the boats are changing – there's always gonna be a vocal group of naysayers against change. But we need change, to evolve the race and also to promote responsible climate action
Appreciate Niall pointing out how fast these designs are being updated by showing us the older Hugo Boss design–and that's only a few years old. Excited to see what the ship designers do next!
I wonder what the fictional Captain Jack Aubrey would make of foiling sailboats…
Cannot wait for the next edition.
Big lesson, the media team needs more budget. This channel, the site and the app is what connects people to the racing and that is what the sponsors look for. I know pro's aint cheap, but they will pay for themselfs long term
The boats need two sound proof shock insulated sleeping pods.

Niall! Good to see you again!
This was really great insight into things going on after the race. At 5:27 I think I see someone at the helm and people out on the beam of Charal. That would be exciting if some of the designs had an inside and outside cockpit?
This is one of those channels where I always let the ads play all the way through. My small way of supporting this great content 😉
Seems to me they need to work on visibility for inshore races and the tech aspects to prevent all the dismastings .
i think holcim prb was by far the best boat in the ocean race. They were completely dominant in the first half of the race, then lost their mast and i think the team was significantly downgraded after Escoffier stepped down and therefore lost the race.
The excitement is palpable!
For me all thes development is making it less interesting for the spectator, especially for the ocean race. It disconnects the sailor from the sea.
“I’m being… gently caressed by the foil. It’s nice… til the spiky part gets me.” 😆
It’s so great to see Niall and so many folks from the Race again after all these months, and to see inside the boats! Looking forward to seeing some IMOCAs up close at the Transat NY-Vendée next year!
Obviously, a lesson learnt (missing here) is that the 65 will disappear. There are a lot of reasons why, but nothing about that has been presented here. Pity.
Essentially, the multi-purpose IMOCAS are around and can do TOR as an „add-on“. The pinnacle for these boats will always be the Vendee Globe. TOR will become an incubator for future TVG sailors which then will become teachers for „rookies“ – that’s the only way I see that TOR remains. Essentially what is going on right now.
Fantastic vlog as always. I love the passion and dedication of the sailors and teams. I miss my daily Ocean race team vlogs and look forward to the next one. Greg 🇬🇧😊
I am actually a big fan of this event, but didn't even know it was happened this past time.
WTH guys. Advertise?😊 😊
Thank you! Miss you all:)
For what can be improved on the boats: I have seen a video a couple of years go I think, where someone put out some of the improvements that could be easily made to the boats to make them just a little bit faster.
Things like, the railing being collapsible or at least have a shroud that is aerodynamically better.
Having, like we saw on one boat, the boom as close as possible to the hull and have like a shout to the deck to keep pressure in the sail.
Sure, it will maybe bring 0.1knots, but at a distance of 20-30k NM, it adds up.
How about not allowing the predominant race sponsor with unlimited funds to have a boat interest to remove the home cooking official rulings of the race!
Good documentary, thanks 👌
Niall, "I don't know what that is". LOL neither do we, neither do we… 8:15
OBR's are a gamechanger and critical to the future of the sport. It would be more expensive but they need to be "OBF's" and let a shore team edit the raw footage. Double-triple the coverage.
Very chatty, few technical details!
Thanks Niall, these new design IMOCA's are a huge step forward. Best to all the competitor's!
Beautiful video
Impressed by the quality of your questions. Awesome video!
I hope that Jack does the Solo – I think he'd do well.
Always love the detail and insights you bring to your reports!
