1. Happy in a hotel, where you have some sanity. Ac probably feels good for a couple hours in the morning, after that, probably hard to keep up. That's coming from someone currently rehab 1975ish 41ft Formosa in Costa Rica. Looks like you are doing fine, all the best.

  2. For the stuck bolts consider a propane style torch and mapp gas if you can get it since it runs hotter than propane. Obviously consider fire potential wherever you are using it. The angle grinder you mentioned is another good tool to have on hand. Bleach for the mildew and crevices. Spray it in there but don't stick around to breathe any in. Wait until it has dissipated and then give it a go with your scrubber. Wash, rinse, repeat. Most shower/tile cleaners should work well. As someone else mentioned with stainless fasteners they must be assembled with anti-seize or similar or they will stick together before you even get them properly tightened. The awnings others are suggesting can keep water out but also help with the heat from the sun. I'd say the main problem is you haven't got a boom to throw one over nor do you have rails to tie them to. Might be tough to get them up off the deck.

  3. Good luck, you have an amazing boat there! Good idea to get the fiberglass done by a professional, but BE THERE when they do it so that no corners are cut. Penetrating oil and a sunshade are essential if you are going to work under the hot Malaysian sun. Or if you prefer start really early stop around 11 am and start again around 5 pm…The only things you throw away are things that are rotten. Any metal should be kept, even that horrible rug that was in the back locker, maybe its just very dirty. I noticed in the background that some guy was using a container…maybe he can sublet you some space for the stuff you take out of the boat. But keeping stuff under the boat will not work (I lived in Singapore for a decade). Bet you that your railing fabrication guy will like to use/buy any of the brightwork you've got there.

  4. Hi guys.

    I have a question and a …constructive criticism

The question; if I understand it correctly is a boat with two masts for sails?

The criticism; the videos are short and then it's not like you've seen much of the work you've done. I hope to see videos of at least 25 minutes.

It would also be interesting to see the damage the boat has had

    Good continuation for the work.

    A hug to you both

  5. I know you probably dont want to hear this, but i would still drop the rudder and do a thorough inspection of the shaft and all components. It may have just been old packing but to know for sure could save you a huge frustration when launching, not to mention the added expense of having to rehaul if there are issues. I also agree with the other comment about tarps to keep the water out. Hopefully in that glorious stash of tools you have a proper hammer to sound the deck and hull with. It will tell you how large of an area damage and delamination is by sound alone. Love your videos and will be following you closely throughout this amazing oppurtunity you're making for yourselves.

  6. Hi guys, one thing about refitting a yacht. It is a perfect opportunity to learn more about your vessel and learn how things are put together and how they come. Apart the strengths and weaknesses so keep your eyes out for all. The crazy thing is that you’re going to find. Keep up the good work. Love your videos Cliff from Logan City Queensland, Australia from the big island 🧑🏾‍🦽🦘🏝️🇦🇺🌏🏝🦘🐨

  7. Hi guys, when you had all the stuff out of the lacerate, you should’ve give it a paint with some good sealer anyway obviously it’s a cost factor. Keep up the good work. Love your videos from Australia

  8. You two are doing a fantastic job. You've only scratched the surface, but before and after shots will help us understand your job. I'd love to know what the overall repair will entail. Those jobs that must be done before a relaunch and those that can be done later when back in the water. How are the electrics and what about that motor. What are the plans for those sorts of things? Take care, I wish you well.

  9. As an ex Dive Instructor, I recommend that you get those Scuba Regulators (you called respirators) get a full service before jumping overboard with them strapped to your back. Also have a full hyrdo test on the tanks done as well, unless they're still in test. Thoroughly check the BCD, especially as all the gear was in a bag thrown amongst other gear in the lazarette!
Great to see it on the hard and work begun, well done.
Maybe you can get a small cart and bring stuff stored under the yacht, back to the apartment, out of all that rain.

  10. 316 s/s bolt and 304 so called s/s nuts !! If you had to hammer that packing in its the wrong size ! Do yourselves a favour If you don't know ASK or get it done by someone who knows what they are doing !! If you don't at some point in the future you will be sorry VERY sorry.

  11. That looks like a good Teflon or Gortex type packing. The biggest tip is to stagger the joins around, 12 o’clock, 3, 6 and 9 also cut the ends on a diagonal like 45 deg so that they overlap and it’s not a butt joint. Nip the gland up, then tighten it down once shi is in the water, you don’t need to live that style of packing.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🤙🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺
