8. Excellent Sam! Sail area + Wind speed + Righting momment, airfoil, hydro foil and reefing down! Always know when the Boom is coming over!

9. I learned what a boom vang does & HOW TO put up a whisker pole.
   I rigged a few hundred mostly new sailboats & some used, from '78-'96, & did many short 1- day deliveries (to boat shows) & two 7-day deliveries during those 18 years. Haven't been sailing since.
   How do you put up a whisker pole if you don't have a roller furler… but hanks instead?

Im part way through my various courses, gearing up to the day skipper course once Ive got past the complete novice stage (Your name was mentioned alongside a few expletives when doing the capsizing part of level 1 – because you are my inspiration in my sailing journey). It was Part 1 that inspired me to start learning, so Ive been waiting for part 2, so many thanks for part 2, as I am learning all of this at the moment, but seeing you doing it on a sailboat in real time was perfect in helping me to understand the concepts Ive been learning in theory classes. I cant wait for part 3, but please, dont leave it another year, by then Im hoping to cross the channel in my boat. Again, many thanks for this invaluable video tutorial, it was 'awesome'.

14. Sam, thank you so much! I’ve learnt so much about some really useful stuff in this video. The way you explained everything was so clear and demonstrated so clearly at the same time. I just wish we were heading into the sailing season instead of retiring to the warm sofa too much (UK), so I could go out and try this all out. 👏🏻

    I have a Dutchman.
    Works well, adjustable tension wheels.
    Can be used as a preventer as well.

18. When I look at a boat for making a passage I always dive and clean the hull because that makes boat sail better. Also I check for big weight items onboard. It doesn't make sense to carry non-paying cargo. I think your sailing skills for passages improve if you do some racing. Racing is a pretty good way to break stuff more often which is always fun.

19. Were you raised on the ocean or some coastal city? How did you learn all this? Did you ever read "Dove?"
