I love this video because it makes my somewhat chaotic salon looking ready for the boat show compared with yours lol. As for varnishing it is usually done the other way round using the roller first and using the brush afterwards for finishing.

How about naming it "Stan" since it technically isn't a windlass at all. It is a Capstan. Only a horizontal winch is called a windlass. Anyways, enjoy Stan.

I highly suggest painting the windlass motor with epoxy paint. I have the same windlass and after 2 years my motor is very rusty.
