  1. There is no way you could have anticipated the dock coming apart at least you had a few friends to help out. Just glad you are safe.

  2. Incredible video guys…if you've never " Lived It" it barely translates to the experience. The Singing of the Shroads, the panic while you watch the Docks giving way…to make a small suggestion, we rode out bad one in BLOCK Island. If your Abeam to the wind/ waves we would run out 2 lines from the Lee side under Her out into weather with 2 anchors. ..last ditch effort for survival. The lines are "gonna write they're Name" for sure on the Glass….but I saw it…you will stay put! Others were on the beach and parking lots? It was bad. I have NEVER seen the harbor like that in Penasco..yikes…nice you found El' Capitans…lol no better view.

  3. Its not prudent to stay in the hurricane area in hurricane season. I have been cruising since 1984 and I have never done it. And its not like there hasnt been talk of global warming for a couple of decades. Which will mean more storms, bigger storms, and storms in places never seen before. Obviously. The sea of Cortez is not safe.

  4. Kind of crazy the hurricane season started out with a hurricane going right up to their. Now another one pretty much doing the same thing at the end of hurricane season

  5. Good video, glad you are all safe. Good work during the storm, all of you, including the locals. Make sure that you express your appreciation. it may pay off in the future

  6. Many people decry that many YouTube mariners are adding commercials to their videos. Y'all have to make a living. Producing videos is time and labor intensive. If we want to live vicariously through your trials and triumphs it must be paid for. I then rank the ads on creativity and entertainment value. Alas, you are lagging behind Tally Ho and Sailing Uma, as is SV Delos. They have set quite a high bar. Do not despair; we still love you both. Edit: I am still amazed that you have not yet gotten 100K subs. Hang in there. Slow and steady wins the race.

  7. The flooding reminds me of home here in Vermont this summer… we had so many towns/cities underwater. Not so much one huge storm as much as just a very very rainy spring and summer.. rivers all over the state breached their banks… The flooding has been worse than Irene in 2011. Glad to see you guys came through the storm basically unscathed, you really lucked out with a prime spot tucked in behind larger boats and close to shore… I won't pick on Grace for sleeping through a few hours of it, because I actually think I'd sleep really well in howling storm… I live in a mobile home and you can really hear the rain on the roof, I sleep like a baby in a hard rain… I sleep better with the sound of a fan running too, lol

  8. I live in Las Vegas, and my boat is in Shelter Island Marina, San Diego. I saw the forecast for Hillary, she was a TS at that time. I said to myself, no issues there, 8 hours later she was upgraded to Category 4 , I told my boss, I will not be in for the next few days, and raced to SD. It took me 6 hours to tie down and prep the boat. I stayed aboard for the whole event, it was not bad, but I did double up on my dock lines. Hillary was in and out in about 10 hours. All in all, it was pretty calm up here. I can now say I survived a hurricane on my boat. Glad to see you guys still trudging through. What are your plans for the off season? More boat yoga?

  9. Having been through a hurricane, I can relate. It's situations like this that bring out the best in people. It was a surprise to meet you both at the Annapolis Boat Show. Keep up the great videos.

  10. Great episode showing real life storm action. Glad you made it mostly problem free.

Sorry I missed you at the boat show. Grandson lacrosse event in Philly on Saturday and Sunday meant I couldn't make the Patron event and i only had a short window on Friday to be in Annapolis. Hope net year works out better if you make it back.

  11. that large catamaran next to small world had their line way too tight even when the dock let go the lines were still like guitar strings

  12. Thank you, "the life of a sailor!": you captured the spirit beyond following RULES and the party after glow❤"!

1st around the world to & from Pakistan & India by 4 ships as missionaries, father in education.

Then 3 years, 2 months sea duty in 2 squadrons on 3 ships across the rough Atlantic.

Last was on the USS INTREPID, when water was over the bow, damaging aircraft, so announced warning of turning about to put the waves to our aft.

Rumour had it we missed capsizing by 2 degrees. In my metaphor: USS INTREPID was a cork in a flushed toilet!

I got pictures of iron hand rails rolled back. The ceiling in the hangar bay dropped; which was the floor of supply, dropping aircraft tires into the hangar bay.

My AMD Avionics shop was right under the flight deck where a Japanese engine stopped & across the hall of security full size file cabinet welded to the wall was thrown off.

On the commercial ships at the boot of Italy, my father had us wedged in a doorway.

A couple sitting in lounge chairs, were thrown onto the other wall, breaking bones.

Being a sailor is beyond the average "sand crab!".

Thank you for capturing the essence of passing as sailors.

Love & empathize with you SPECIAL SOULS ❤

Navy veteran, Missionary child, NDEs, witness!

  13. Did another one just hit lapaz yesterday? I saw a video but not sure it was yesterday. Lots of damage boats on the beaches all over lapaz

  14. Sorry to say but living in the Northeast for many years you can get a surprise storm with 50 mph winds over night.. so 50 m p h is not much of a storm here. and you had the worst part during the day.

  15. So Thankful you and SV Small World escaped damage from the high winds! Survivors Dinner looked great! Best Quote by Grace "Nobody likes Hurricanes" Poor Dog! Keep Safe Everyone!

  16. Good you made it through the storm, as well as you did. Next time go for the pile and adjust the lines for the tide.
Sorry, I didn't make it to the boat show. Had to work. It's the curse of the drinking class.

  17. As a Patron, it was such a relief to be able to follow Calico Skies weathering the hurrican with your hourly updates via What's App. We were all sitting on pins & needles with you and let out a collective cheer that evening when Hilary finally dwindled.
