Yacht-ul Regal Britannia a servit cu credință reginei în perioada 1954-1997, permițându-i să participe și să găzduiască sute de întâlniri și recepții diplomatice. 1. So very sad to see our late Queen Elizabeth struggling to control her emotions . Britannia had given her a chance at real privacy where she could enjoy her family and friends away from the cameras and journalists . I think Philip was struggling as well because he knew they would never again have tthat type of absolute privacy or adventures . They both gave the majority of their lives to their country and I think the country should have weighed that against the upkeep cost of the Britannia . How can anyone put a price on a lifetime of service to one's duty ?

  2. The baskets took her ship off her Cost us 50p each a year. Shame on them. They could have waited until she'd gone before taking it off the Royal Family.
It was like taking her Crown away.
    Jealous so and so's.

  3. What an amazing historical view of the Queen's reign – the change in the world in her time as Queen was unbelievable. The pain on both her and Prince Philips face as she was decommissioned showed just how much the yacht meant to them. They led gilded lives. I've been on the yacht at Leith – it's old fashioned now but what a wonderful way to travel the world!

    Nonsense.
He was a very heavy smoker for decades snd got cancer as a result of it.
It is so ridiculous to turn his cause of death from a self harming habit into a heroic sacrifice.

  5. We saw this ship when we were in the Bahamas one time. I thought it was such a good idea cuz they could take their children with him and not risk an airplane ride. It was also great when It was able to evacuate people and showed good compassion from Great Britain to the world

  6. Should have been offered a birth in a drydock with charity effort to preserve her, perhaps update and refit. The period of just stripping the crown was shamefull in the manor it was conducted. Yes taxpayers should be spared the burden but the crown also had many profitable assets that wasn't even allowed to be spent on reinvestment or preservation as they limited crown funds to a cap and took the rest. Perhaps a modern replacement should be built and likewise serve double duties. It was for England very much as Air Force One is to the US. A replacement should serve the PM and military command as well. It is a true shame the practical symbols of leadership gets stripped to be replaced with a carnival wheel. Remember too it gave a moblie place for diplomatic missions. Also for members of the family and sevice to practice hands on seamanship in a peaceful role with skills useful in the early and late stages of any conflict. Should have cut government funding but established a charitable trust to at least preserve her or a replacement like her, perhaps as a Commonwealth Asset. While separate countries now and not as an empire still loyal to the crown a limited Commonwealth force and core would be in order much like UN or Nato troups and cores. Otherwise the Commonwealth will erode as the Empire did as the Crown can no longer serve the loyalty as intended.

  7. The fact that Britain, an island nation, does not have a royal yacht is really silly. And claiming that Britannia was too old is rubbish, the Danish royal yacht Dannebrog was launched in 1932 and is still going strong, and will probably celebrate 100 years in service in 8 years.

  8. It meant 'freedom' to her. One of the only places (if not the only place) where she could have complete privacy away from the press and the public. I think it's the only time I ever saw the Queen cry.

  9. 7:50 I've Been To The Royal Yacht Britannia Boat Museum In Edinburgh In Scotland In The United Kingdom 5 Years Ago Back In June 2019 And It Was Super Awesome. Thanks Mate. PS This Famous Boat The Royal Yacht Britannia Is Named After The British Railways Standard Britannia Pacific Express Steam Locomotive Britannia Built In 1951 And It Was Now Preserved At The National Railway Museum In York In Yorkshire. X

  10. The Britannia had the advantage of being a place that was not bugged, and which could not be taken by local militants if there were unrest. It had value to the Commonwealth.

  11. Great documentary just look at the cost of replacing Air Force One ( billions) as an American. I believe Brittania should’ve been replaced with a newer, modern version. She was a great diplomatic tool for the British government, and also brought much comfort to her Majesty, the Queen.

  12. The royal family had a funny way of waving expressing like there was a problem with the way regular people do maybe it was fear or not or too much practice or watching others before them greetings from Canada

  13. I am meloncoly about this ship as an American. I just don’t see why it had to be resigned while the queen reigned. Couldn’t the family have personally purchased this ship for thier own? Or did it belong to Britain? Surely the royal family had enough money to purchase and kept her.
I guess all things come to an end. This one was a sad end.

  14. The loss of this fine asset to the crown and country is a huge mistake. Maybe, just maybe, one day it could be recommissioned. The loss of this fine vessel is just another example of the damage a Labour government does to this country.

  15. Very very sad to lose such a piece of iconic British heritage! This was Tony and Cherie Blair’s “finest moment” in their quest to try to please the anarchist’s and what they perceived as a vote gathering from the working classes.. But like all ‘Emperors’ the Blair’s only made the divide greater in this country, and whilst playing the role of ‘working class hero’s’ they were secretly in the background building a £bn empire for themselves, ending up richer than the Royal Family! A typical move by the Labour government!
