Your both looking very sun tanned 😊 If you are in any doubt what you are doing is the right thing, last weekend there was a storm from hell over the UK and it hasn't stopped raining since. Everything is wet. Boat, house, car, dog, everything 💦
Can I suggest an anchor snubber? Used more often when its moderate to very windy and helps stop the tug on the anchor chain as you wander about whist at anchor. You probably need about 10m of 3 strand rope and use a knot or clever widget to clip to the anchor chain just above the water line. The other end goes to the back of the boat to something strong. We use a winch. 10mm diameter will be fine because you want it to stretch and absorb energy rather than a violent tug of the chain going tight, so 3 strand rather than more expensive double braid rope etc. Once set up let a little more chain out so it hangs in a loop but still secured on deck. It will also stop the annoying noise of the chain moving over the bow roller.
If you have a moment, worth looking at YT channel Madison Boatworks video No 2, for ideas on interior layouts and ideas. He is a shipwright and it took them 4 years to refit the boat, so don't try copying them. Episode no 11 has some brilliant music too.
Final suggestion, whilst you are back in the UK over Christmas, order some "Dinghy Seat Clips" from Amazon (£5.39) and take them back with you. The seats tend to be quite tight in use, so what ever the width of the dinghy seat straps are, take a smidgen off and use an offcut of timber to make a seat in Italy. That way Lou holding the shopping won't get splashed. I find memsahibs tend to like that attention to detail 😇
Looking forward to see the transformation on the boat!📺
Look forward to hearing your plans for the interior.
Do think about cold weather, so good insulation, good ventilation and good heating.
Also consider how you can keep the inside dry. Some sort of lobby with adjacent wet hanging locker. It could be just waterproof curtains, removable in fine weather. Once everything starts to get damp…life gets miserable.
A good cockpit tent for at anchor.
Get yourself a sewing machine, ideally an old hand cranked cast iron one. You can save £££ by doing your own sail repairs and modifications, and lots of other projects.
But don’t just concentrate on the interior. Get everything working smoothly with the sails and running rigging.
I would certainly consider a wind vane. Even a very simple one, such as a trim tab on a stern hung rudder. See How to Sail Oceans. As you don’t have a stern rudder, you could fit an auxiliary rudder.
So enjoy your winter..,it’s going to be hard work, but rewarding. …no dolce vita for yous…well maybe now and then.
Great video guys! Safe passages!❤
These gellys are harmless, price fir haul out is insane, i usually pay around 400 eu, power wash included, you will sand and antifoul your self, of course? One question, no offence meant, do u ever back on your anchor, when u drop it? I never notice it…
e22000 obviously they don't want your custom buggar em! Cheers n beers guys Marty Australia
Nice😊
