Grt vid again. Thank u. And the explanation on t 2 highs coming together was very cool. Seeing how u deal with certain issues, or fixing something is always worth watching. Safe travels. 🍻🇦🇺
I love this episode🤩Pity with the lost fish but buy a much stronger reel without the Line leader on. But offcourse its difficult to have a big strong fish on in a sailboat with the wind and big waves in the stern. This is «the real deal» sailing channel on YouTube 🌏⛵️💨 Greetings from Norway who have snow weather today❄️❄️
Awesome wind and weather explanation with those two high pressure drawings, I Learned something there 👍
Hey guys. So from the US here: you probably thought of this but so for your wind vane so it doesn’t crack more until you can fix it properly find a hose clamp or zip ties and put it around the part … and always try to carry epoxy in tubes that can take care of cracks and is water proof… put duct tape around it loosely and pour the epoxy in the tape to hold it together temporarily…hope it helps …
Time foe a new ensign I think. At least you are moving on, so many cruisers get seduced into never leaving the South Pacific. Getting closer to you circumnavigating NZ !
Another excellent sail. We're lucky about the highs and lows. High is an anticyclone rotating anti- clockwise. Not many occluded cold fronts to worry about either. Only 11 fatal shark attacks in NZ in over 120 years so, pretty safe there. Beautiful underwater and quite warm water up the top. Imagine eating raw oysters straight off the rocks underwater!
Another brilliant video – thank you so much for the weather explanation! Those biscuits aren't that bad if you top them with a thin layer of vegemite and cheese.
That was as clear an explanation of a weather feature at sea as I've seen from anyone, you clearly have a good understanding of the weather – did you pick this up over time or learn it at some stage?
Fishing gear isn't designed to catch fish when your under way. If you've got a big fish on your line, the best thing to do is hove to. It's all a learning curve. All the best lads!
Beautifully explained Luke.
But never believe the weather forecasts 😉
Which app and coms system are you using to download weather data offshore?
I was worried about the "Life and Loss" title. I thought that maybe something had happened to the Cheese supply but I'm thinking the Loss was the Fish? That was a Biggun and a shame you didn't get to reel it in but then again you could have snagged the Kraken!😂
You explained that weather great . Shame about the fish . An you mend your rod ? Your videos are always great to watch x
What a shame you didn't get that fish in , like you said, probably too big , the hook will eventually fall out but it's not good having it swim about with that in it's mouth, although I think it'd prefer that option to the one if you'd landed it.
Hi lads it's rick another great adventure video. I've been busy at my off grid property. Wonderful sailing video. I'm still waiting to see you boys make spaghetti pizza. Those hard tac biscuits try and be creative with them. Safe sailing boys rick
You guys seem to be getting more and more views – I don’t know how the YouTube monetisation works and the algorithms and all – but hope it’s bringing in the income to keep going. I always recommend your channel when I offer my favourites to people.
Another great video guys. I can't believe the amount of sausages you had in one meal. How are you not both 20 stone! 😂
I love watching your videos. Yes, bigger sharks are in the colder waters of Australia. The warmer water has mainly reef sharks or grey nurses, both are pretty harmless.
If you haven't been to New Zealand yet, I highly recommend you visit Te Papa on the Wellington harbour. It's a display of N Z history from world war 1 and everything NZ. Some of the displays will send a chill down your spine. Filming is allowed.
Hi Guys, thanks for putting this up. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. To you ever use the hatch near the mast, to manage sail reefing? Can you describe your navigation gadgets for sailing the Open Ocean? Tia.
