its not the actor that hold its the amount of chain on Botton, at least 5 to 1 on monohull, not sure about cat, we always dive on the anchor when possible
Your anchoring issue is related to not using a two piece when dropping the hook. I know it doesn’t really makes sense but before you reject my suggestion you should try it. Next time, before you drop the hook put Teresa in a two piece and see how the anchor holds. Cheers 🥂
Two points: a soft shackle is the best solution for attaching a bridle to a chain, and 2, the roll bar anchor was the state of the art 10 years ago, but the newest heavy tip self righting anchors set much better and self right without a roll bar. They also don’t get clogged in heavy grass and mud. We have an ultra. Mantus introduced a non roll bar anchor as well, I believe called the M2. Brave to show your struggles, much respect, all sailors have the same struggles but other YouTubers don’t share theirs. Good luck!

We used a Rocna for 6 years on our yacht and it never let us down, even being the only boat not to drag in one storm. It has a top circle so it can't stay upside down. We always backed up at 1500 revs to dig it in. It would bury up to one metre in the mud, and was very hard to break free sometimes. We swear by them. I also always buy an anchor two sizes too big, the cheapest insurance you will ever buy! Sleep easy. Regards Murray and Jean
Been having the same issues with the delta 25kg that my leopard 44 came with. Then upgraded to Epsilon 40kg and the situation was worse. I was going crazy over anchor vs my technique.
Ended up going crazy with an Ultra 45kg and after a couple of months I don’t even dive my anchor or check it. I just drop it with 5 time the chain depth and always sets. I have tried a lot of different kinds of bottom and it sets nicely every single time.
Catamarans have a lot of drag due to the surface area exposed to the wind so going super oversize in my opinion is a must. Especially for live aboard that we are on anchor in most of the storms.
After the ultra experience I am quite confident that with the right anchor, technique does not play a huge role.
For you A/C I have ordered exactly the same for next season. I hope it does not drain my batteries. Would love to see how it will go for you.
Just run a spring from your quarter to the anchor rode and adjust to offset the swell. Calm down.

Yep. That rolling is going to bring my cruising career to an early end. I guess I'm just a too-light sleeper in general. It's either too rolly, too hot, or if not those, it rains in the middle of the night. But, it's usually too hot and too rolly. I'm on a monohull and I don't even get the relief a cat will provide in gentle swell. The boat is always moving and keeping me awake. I basically didn't sleep all summer in the EC. The sleep deprivation is shredding my sanity. I'm ready to go back to land. 🙁

I think you should get the anchor with a hoop. Because are used to using it and have more confidence in the anchors setting capability.
