Hello fine people. I love your spirit and your excellent videos. About toilet: please get a Blake Victory manual. It never ever fails. No electric , no solenoids. Bronz pumps, two of them: one for water in and one for waste out. Mine on my Swan is from 1980: Works always. A haul out every 5 years or so. Of course, now adays one if these costs far more than a Jabsco. I think 3000-4000£. Is it worth it? YES YES YES! Problem free for a century❤
If you are moored on your mooring or as your doing traveling /sailing seeking new places and adventure. The breakdowns are the same. Tip change your head for a LaVac it’s a vacuum system you hand pump no electrical components very little to go wrong! I liked the voice over sailing life reality message nicely delivered. My sailing family always taught me to spit on your fingers before touching the burnt end of a nylon rope. You often need to shape the burnt end of course to help it smoothly go through holes and small spaces after cutting with heat or fire as the ends can flare out. Having done this many times, I now like to keep an ice cube on a saucer for the old times when he nylon is a little too hot. Eli, your chest is really not the place you want to grow hair. I'm sure you already know this tip. My family always used to place a blanket over the table before the table dressing sheet. This absorbs heat from hot containers and also will quickly absorb spilt liquids. It also provides a little cushioning to those men are place down too heavily on the table. Blankets are easily removed and folded and stowed after meals- -often in the storage upon which you sit. I'd love to discuss a couple of ideas about sailing and hull design with you (since you no doubt have discussed much of the same with Martina Podesta and Rafael) when you are in Brisbane, so hopefully we can catch up. Having replaced the impeller on small Evinrude, Mercury, and Yamaha outboards I can say everything is easy until you have to reconnect the shift lever. The first time I gave up after an hour and contemplated bringing it to a shop. The next day I spent another hour fiddling and got it connected.
Boat life will always be a balance of issues and golden sunsets, its how you manage the bad times.

Hi Guys …… Great episode and great synopsis on the cruising lifestyle …… My 2 cents …. make sure you do not fit Jabsco heads on your Portofino …They are built to a price for the production boat market ….. like all their kit!!! … I can highly recommend the Raritan Marine elegance heads ….. four years later with three heads and not one issue! You can program the length of the flush cycle on these heads so that your novice guests flush the heads correctly!! …….. Weird about the salami clip!
Manual toilets are better for cruising.

Hi my friends, Now if I was there I could have fixed the little Honda for Free, being a mechanic does come in handy🤣 please buy some more impeller for next time ok. Actually just get the whole kit, gaskets, impeller, lube, seals, oil and spark plug . Great episode, good job on the Dunny John 👍think of u both often xx like the new intro too
I'm sure you might know this but if you have a problem with the smell put a dust mask on and a dollop of vicks vapor rub on the outside and Bobs your Uncle no sewage smell in your nose!
Good mechanics. Good lessons. Critical to learning how to do something is often just seeing someone who knows doing it (on the outboard and the head). I think we learn so much just by watching how someone who knows simply moves.
What a fantastic video! I loved it John and Ellie! I think I understand why boat manufacturers tend to use so much plastic when plumbing to keep the boat weight down but must they use it on the toilets? 😮 Toilets are critical and are probably the most used item on the boat and plastic parts are not practical for longevity! I loved your sense of humor John prepping to go in for the “surgical” fix. Lol 😆 Sorry the dingy engine had a hic-up but that looks easy enough for you to fix in the future. Always keep spare parts. Amazing how beautiful the water in the Mediterranean is with its blue, crystal clear reflection. You both look wonderful and so happy. Stay safe my friends. 😍
I'm sure there will be a next time with the engine, the good thing about your own YT, is you have the footage to do it. Well done with the head. It's always been my dream to sail the world, well before Youtube was a thing. We had the 5-year plan to sell up and get ready, but my husband opted out, Now single with my house up for sale, I will do this, solo if I have to, But one day I will be there. have extra impellor kits on hand. Most Sailors can help you do it yourself. I also change gear oil and engine oil if 4 stroke after impellor since it got hot and most likely did oil damage.
Did you find the missing fins from the impellor? If not they are in the engine cooling system. it can be reverse blown out after the lower unit is removed again. They restrict water flow if left in cooling system.
