Hahaha “ It's coming “ 👍
Keep working. Keep learning
You should attach that generator to the platform so it doesnt vibrate itself to the edge and fall into and contaminate your water source.
Grow your own wall. Prickley or spiney hedge.
I’d love to see the driveway pour!
you could do your own driveway, but working alone you can only pour a few feet at a time
Hey ! wish you both all the best …. later Matt keep strong 💪 bro
you need 6 to 12" recycled concrete pounded into the dirt before you pour concrete on the driveway. Also, you will need 6" concrete with re-enforcement to to take heavy trucks.
as for a wall … try a "Hardy Orange" or "Flying Dragon" – Poncirus trifoliata – hedge. once grown, that will stop a truck & certainly people & animals.
You guys are the hardest working people on the internet. Much respect to you both. Admitting your lack of expertise only deepens my respect for you. Finding mentors to help you is an awesome step in the right direction. I do miss the boat……but I'm excited to see what you do with this property.
I'm at about the 5 minute mark right now and have no idea how this is going to go but that 1 horse pump looks very small for that steep lift. Still wishing you the best will update when I see it. Amazing! Tom is wrong again!
Do you still have your old bo Boat
As an do it yourselfer who has some experience with concrete. I'd suggest you build your own forms. When a concrete truck arrives, you have a limited amount of time to smooth and level the concrete. I got a friend who was experienced to level my concrete while I and two other people wheelbarrowed the concrete from the cement truck. It was exhausting and stressful, but we got it done. If you mix your own concrete, it will take a long time, but you can do it in manageable increments and do it all yourself. As I think about it, those professional guys earn every penny. Love your channel.
with water pressure and a rise, you lose about 8 psi per 10 feet of rise, so that will be a good thing to keep in mind, maybe a pressure gauge for the pump location would be a good start, for filters you normally use a particle filter followed by a carbon, then a UV light for germ killing
Hey Uncle Matt, you do not want to do concrete. Its a hard mistress. Better on using Ready Mix Truck if available. Hire a local contractor and get a lounge chair and some beer, 👀and watch. 😉😉
You need some walkie talkies
Happy Thanksgiving you guys.
Change the jeopardy music 😂😂😂😂
Not jabbing the cats😭
For goodness sake–won't a boot company (can you say; "Wolverine" or "Red Wing") take pity on poor Matty and send him a REAL pair of work boots!!!
You need some military grade jungle boots mate. 😀
The pressure tank is a great idea but on the line going up, you need to understand one thing. Head pressure. It’s the weight of the water in the pipe going up the hill. The big of the pipe the heavier the water in the pipe will be. So choose a small line like a half inch from the pressure tank to another storage tank at the top that gets filled with a float that triggers the pump below the generate more pressure. Another pressure tank at the top and another small pump will provide you adequate pressure at the faucet or showerhead. Let me know if this works. I’m a wannabe engineer who built a lot of buildings.
Where can I buy that hat?
How about a shipping container home? Quick coverage as you build, easy to add to as you grow, and there has to be containers there in PR that have been taken out of service!! There are dozens of YouTube videos on how to construct with these.
Please let us buy you a hose, or a tape measure, or maybe a cold cerveza…..love the work ethic. Btw, whatcha think of the coki frogs…keep you up at night? Your editing has become top notch. Congrats on 200k! Happy for you guys. Best, 🤗🍻🤗🍻🤗
Matt I have a crazy idea. What if you did a two stage water lift up the mountain..You could lift the water to a 50 gal or bigger plastic drum half way up the mountain then install another pump at that location to bring the water from there to the house.
Get help with poring
❤
I keep saying work smarter not harder. Surface water is a good way to get sick. A little research could save your health and pocket book. It is not rocket science but you should do some research to succeed.
Love your enthusiasm Kristen. Matt you did an amazing job congratulations love the walkway thank you for bringing us along the kitties are beautiful. don't cry Matt lol 🙏💕
The driveway isn't going to look worth a shit if u try and bag pour it by urself . And the soil condition is way to wet , better plan on sub excavating and pluging it with aggregate base rock. But good luck on what ever u decide to do .U got a retired concrete contractor rooting for u guys
Mat what about a What about just building a hydroculture green house.
They have one on St Croix that works great. No need for weeds or critters getting to it. That one is also in rainforest. Jack the sailing dogs mom
I live in Florida how I wish my home were made with concrete you may pay more but in my humble opinion it's well worth it.
What is the best structure to withstand a hurricane?
Concrete. One of the strongest building materials available, concrete is incredible at withstanding pressure and stress. Concrete is dimensionally stable, and does not contract or expand during extreme weather events.
You might be able to get some sandbag bags and use some of your soil to make an earth-bag wall for a lot cheaper (but a ton of labor). Google Earthbag construction.
Soo i n s p i r a t i o n a l and successful D I Y bigtime !
Welcome to the club ……
Matt, please don't try to do the driveway by yourself, it will get all your energy out, ask for a concrete truck and keep your strength to go on in this project .
Telling you this because if you do it by yourself with no success you'll loose not only energy and money the road could have issues later
3/4" black poly pipe is what I use. I have 1300 feet from the spring to the lower tank. Garden hose puts nasty things in drinking water.
I know you said you’ll earn on your own but just think ram pump
Sand! Dump a little sand and line the bottom with sand! A natural filter for the dirt
I would suggest installing the pump at the top of the hill with a foot valve at the bottom in the well. I would use 1” or 1-1/4” polyethylene, pex or pvc pipe, whichever is easier to get your hands on. I’m not sure if this pump will pull the water up that high, but that is typically how I’ve seen jet pumps installed in shallow wells. I’m sure others have already said this, but definitely put the filter on the other side of the pump, the filter is the last thing in line before point of use typically. I would say the most ideal set up would be to have a submersible pump in the well pumping up the hill into a holding tank using a float system to control the pump in the well. Then use the jet pump you have to boost the pressure coming out of the holding tank to supply water to anything you want. You also want to make sure your submersible has a controller that will turn it off if it senses the impeller speeding up due to low water in the well.
Check into asphalt millings or crushed concrete for your road, or you base rock for your builds!
