CUM AM supraviețuit PENTRU 2 ZILE ÎNTR-O VASA DE SALVARE - (Episodul 235)

From watching the video, kudos to both girls for doing the life raft challenge. I would say that the biggest mistake you could do would being covering up the light. It looked like its purpose was to illuminate the whole raft for visibility in a search effort. It could be the difference of getting rescued or not.

  2. I really enjoyed this video. even though it was staged there were some things that came through. How uncomfortable it is, the cold, the hunger, the rockinesss and the existenial thinking that would surely come if you found yoursef in that situation for real. I loved the F Scott Fitzgerald quote. It has always been one my favourites.

  3. Hopefully the liferaft you have has a DOUBLE FLOOR, the old one did not and also it wasn't pumped up,if pumped up the conditions would be better, sooo, a raft with DOUBLE FLOOR that inflates AND on my raft, when i had it inspected [they inflate with air], i had them add some storage pocket's glued to the inflated arch tubes for storage, BIG IMPROVMR

  4. Wow, what an experience. Katie you are such a strong and positive woman. I am really proud of you!!! I would add to that grab bag some socks for the dogs as well, so they don’t tear the raft 😂

  5. Anybody that did the Proficiency in life raft course will applaud the girls guts for sticking it out even with the luxury of Parley in the background. The most important lesson one can take out of this is to stay positive and busy with purpose and discipline. The reality of bad weather in the open ocean in a tiny life raft will hit hard and the drills you learned on the course will come in handy.

  6. Super interesting episode. One takeaway for me is that it might be good to have a tablet device in the ditch bag alongside the charger. Having some music and books to read could go a long way to helping someone maintain their sanity in a worst-case scenario. Don't ignore battery maintenance of all the electrical gear in the ditch bag.

  7. Just a few thoughts about if it had been a dreadful situation, where the entire crew was on the life raft…y’all can hang over the edge to relieve B&B, but what about the dogs? Secondly, I would also be very concerned about their nails tearing the bottom of the raft. But you have to save them too, they are a part of you. I truly hope you never need to use the raft, and always have safe sails.❤

  8. An other fun and practical video by Parlay
A few thoughts:: The condition of the liferaft (even after expiration) is absolutely unacceptable , corrosion on a critical connection!!?????

Would be nice to know the brandname!
No medical bag with stitches etc? no freeze dried food for at least a few meals? and a mini hand pumped water desalinator maybe,
also dry clothes in northen latitudes.

  9. Quite a sobering episode. Think about dogs in a liferaft. Given the thinness of the bottom (and sides) and their claws, I think you would need to consider putting bootees on them to try and cover their claws and you would need to do that before they got in which may not be a priority task when sinking. Getting them in you would need to ensure the sides did not get punctured. Also, you would very likely have to put up with dog pee and possibly pooh sloshing about as I doubt they will perform to order with you holding their hind quarters out of the raft. It would have been worth putting one of the dogs in the liferaft to see what the reality would be like. There is at least one case I know where a man and his dog were saved from a liferaft so I guess it is possible but it does present extra challenges that need to be thought about.

  10. If I were to make an assumption, I don't think the light was designed to be turned off. I would dare say that it in the case of the real thing you would want the light on at night to help you be seen.

  11. That was definitely an educational and useful…alongside fun…vlog Katie and Zoe and captain Colin.❤❤❤ Despite safety always being close by yet very useful to experience it and see what's disappointing, what's good and what could be better. And those sharks nibbling at your feet haha.😮😅 Maybe with 8 people and 2 dogs (their nails wouldn't damage it?) the floor would become a bit more stable I expect. I also immediately thought of hammocks made of net that you could stretch between the edges so you could sleep at least somewhat stable yet moving…with 8 people taking turns. The fragility of the floor definitely a thing. I also wondered in this one what else you might take from your (sinking) boat into the life raft in terms of fixed elements. Could help stabilise the floor, but could also damage it precisely because of sharp hard points and the constant scouring motion. Instructive it was…and indeed also time to reflect on life. Nice quote…. Thanks Katie and Zoe.❤❤

  12. Just think how rough it would be in Big seas, in a storm! I heard of people abandoning ship, and the sailboat never ended up sinking ! They said later that they had wished they had stayed on the boat instead, and that to never abandon ship till you know it is actually going to sink ! Because if you thought it was scary staying on the boat! Getting into to the raft was no comparison!

  13. Very informative and entertaining, great job coming up with such different content! Katie and Zoe are troopers for taking one for the team, lol GREAT job ladies!!! See you next week. Fair winds and following seas!

  14. The rocking motion is less with a full raft than with say 2 in it. Just as a heavy ship does not move quite as wildly as a light one!

  15. You might want to include funnels for the females in the life raft. They are very female friendly. I tested one, it is very precise and there wasn’t a spill. I watched a YouTube video of 2 women who camped high up in a tree. You can go in a bottle. Success!

  16. A water bed does not have an ocean sloshing around under it. It's nothing like a life raft, but it is incredibly comfortable until your wife decides to stick her sewing needles in it. 😉
