După ce am așteptat o fereastră de vreme, am pornit din Polinezia Franceză pentru un pasaj de 1800 de mile marine către Fiji. Această întindere de ocean este notoriu de squally și imprevizibilă. Am experimentat vânturi variabile și unele umflături semnificative care au venit din sistemele din oceanul sudic. După o călătorie reușită, am ajuns la uscat în frumoasa țară Fiji. Barca noastră Julia este un ketch Ingrid proiectat de Atkin. Este o barcă tradițională din lemn, construită din brad și cedru pe un cadru de stejar în 1960. nice to hear from sailors on a WOODEN BOAT. I was fortunate to sail on 2 wooden boats in the very early 70's , there is no comparison to fiberglass. One was full keel 20 foot sloop built in 1916 gaff rig, Jamica and back from Miami. 2nd was a 34ft full keel 4ft draft with a centre board to 9.5 ft, 54 ft mast. Flet like a rocket in the water.
