1. Hi

Just love watching /following how you guys are bringing you fantastic boat to life.
I can relate to that as I built mine 39 years ago, and still at it today, keeps me alive.
Build a 40’ cutter rig with pilot house , steel.
I’m 77 and thoroughly enjoy watching others build there boats 😎

    All the best
    Jack. S/V Klothilde

  2. I didn’t and don’t understand the AtoA log cabin style of build. It seams like adding extra weight , work and cost. If the point that there will be no leaks , then why wouldn’t a more traditional well epoxied house do the same with out the gallons of glue , hours of strip prep etc? Yours does look considerably thinner than AtoA. Their house looked like a machine gun bunker it was way over built.

  3. Cabin height looks good. I had a sailboat with a higher cabin. It was so annoyingly awkward and fatiguing climbing up. Slippery and dangerous when wet. Not to mention windage. Made me appreciate flush decks.

  4. Different way of boat building. Would it make sense to use a piping bag to fill in the gaps between the aft top deck section and the sidesand transom¿

  5. Detroit boat works just had an episode about cabin height yesterday. I'm 6'2" so a 6'3" cabin would be fine by me. I like the chickens. Will you bring one aboard? I work barefoot too, keeps you on your toes!

  6. Your boat, your choice, but that house looks high and clunky to me, which is a pity. You're going to be on this boat a lot more than your friends will be. And think of the windage.

Oh, and barefoot whilst laying epoxy. What could possibly go wrong?

  7. I'm glad you have been looking at some of Acorn to Abrella , please take note of that film where Steve was having anode problems and that he got the Gentelmen in who show Steve where his problem was now to me that was an awesome film which I think a lot of you young shipwrights may or may not know of its better to put it right that counts first time

  8. I am 190cm, and I would not expect you to make an ugly cabin in order to cater for me. You do what is right for you. You will be looking at the cabin house while sailing, so you will need to build it to a height which pleases you.

  9. My grandfather was a shipwright in the northeast USA from the late 1800's through the early 1960's. I know he would have loved watching your build. I remember him saying, always embrace new techniques and methods, without them we would have no progress at all. All the best….tm

  10. You build a fantastic boat in an incredibly exciting, imaginative and rich environment with dogs, chickens, other boat projects, trucks, sofas, wood storage, collected in a large shed. Maybe cold and windy sometimes but a wonderful place for boat builders I think. I also think the place is stimulating for many others to stay and be creative in. It is very fun to follow you on video.

  11. I concur regarding the filleting process. Assuming you will have much more to do – if you use a piping bag method to apply the epoxy, it goes in place many times faster and you can quickly get the hang of putting kust the right amount – it goes down more like caulk from a caulking gun. Next, get some of the closed cell foam insulation for water pipes – this makes the perfect filleting tool because you can squeeze it to adjust the radius and it pulls a nice smooth fillet. I've run hundreds of meters of fillets this way and there's very little clean up and is very fast.

  12. It's great to see your progress. Not judging, but will the cabin be removable to make access for large components like engine, stove, etc, that won't fit through the companionway?

  13. I'm building a raised cabin top for my 26.5 Hunter sailboat and thanks for the great ideas. layout is easy, how to build a strong light structure requires a lot of thought

  14. Congratulations for your achievement so far.
Maybe you could use a trail camera or something else to film the possums and show them to us. By us I mean all your friends in other parts of the world where there are not possums.😊

  15. I like to watch a few such channels, but your filmaking is my favourite of all. The boat, the setting, the music and the photography all have such a lovely vibe. Really well done.
