  1. Walter is a knowledgeable Ole salt for sure. I didn't take his advice of staying away from wooden boats. I couldn't resist. $2231 all said and done for a classic 30' Tahiti Ketch.

  2. There could never be another Cap'n. However, I wonder would Walter step into the void left, with his own particular mix of expertise, experience and humour?
I suspect that Walter's book will be a best seller. I'll be buying one and keeping it on-board.

  3. I share Walter's preference for gaffers and single-handing and I found the boat of my dreams several years ago and loved sailing and caring for her immensely. Unfortunately, at my age and in my financial position, I am unable to repair rot in the hull strip-planking by water being trapped between in inner and outer FG laminates, which I found last spring after noticing minor build up of bilge water when last sailing her before the pandemic. I thought she'd sail me off into the sunset of my sailing years, but now she sits, covered, one her trailer while I try to decide how to deal with her. Hopefully I'll win a lottery or meet a good Samaritan shipwright to bring her back to life so I can get my last few years on the water.

  4. You either have a skill in finding good ol' sailing characters; or sailing attracts more than its' fair share of good ol' characters. In any event, we're richer for it. Thanks!

  5. Walter is an amazing man… I love hearing his positive attitude and advice.. nobody can ever replace Capt Q however Walter does a great job at filling in when available.. perhaps you could stop by and have a little chat with Capt Q and share it with us?? If not please tell him that I pray he has a Merry Christmas and a happy new year.. also make sure he knows that he's deeply missed.. thanks Ran-dayyy..

  6. I think Walter need to add a "er" to the end of the name of that boat. I almost bought a boat about that size a few years ago when I was going to work in Jacksonville. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I didn't wind up working in Jacksonville so living on the boat didn't happen. That might have been a good thing because my wife doesn't like the water. Fun video guys and keep the good stuff coming.

  7. Thank you Randall for another entertaining and educational video with Walter. Time spent with Walter is always a great time. Take care and Happy Holidays to you and yours.

  8. Thank you Randall for doing these videos…and thank you, Walter for taking the time to share your experiences. Letting your hair down and speaking plainly, is so refreshing and helpful. The tips for where and how to find boats is wonderful. I just have one question left: Walter…where DiD you get that hat? Seriously though. Thank you, guys.

  9. Randy, its always special time with Mr Schulz. I really enjoy those episodes.
I see alot of myself in him. Well, except he can sail. I'm still skeered of open water. Got a lot of common sense. And he is still married. obv got more brains. And money. But other than that…

  10. Walter is a national treasure!!! I love hearing that man talk about anything!!! That is one beautiful boat … I absolutely love the way the head was designed!!!

  11. I wish I found someone like Walter about 30 years ago. My life would have been a lot different (better). I sailed s bit in the 1960's with my Dad on his Columbia Defender (30 ft). Unfortunately I let job and family get in the way. I know now that with a little better lifestyle management I could have had it better.🙂🙂
