Talking of impurities in welding, if they tack weld and dont clean off the dusty carbon shadow around it and then proceed to do a full stitch weld over it youll still get contamination resulting in poor quality welds, every surface due to be welded must be cleaned
Very impressive
Hi Plukky can you able to compare between garcia boat and your as a thickness of the boat hull and other parts many thanks
This team of boat builders are awesome
Great progress! looks like a small job to them building your cat, they sure knows what they are doing. I got the impression that for them, they are just building a small aluminum toy. My comment!
Awesome 👏
Awesome Peter 👌 I just wish you can do something about the back ground noises. Or going during their break.
Great stuff but unfortunately I only watch in mute 🔇
Very best of luck 👍 👌 👏
Love it, Love it, love it!!! Looks like attention to detail is standard for these guys. Awesome!
Coming together mate
That weld detail at 9 mins is exactly how it should be done. And can you believe it, it actually has to do with the heat transfer.. Who could have known?
👌
nice work Puki. ..well, the welders are also doing an ok work.:)
NIce!
Love watching this all come together. Be careful not to get ark eye. It’s a bitch. no joke.
Im a woodworkman but i have to atmit this looks satisfying!
Cheers again from Canada, Plukky…
As a journeyman carpenter, I 've always been a fan of having some knowledge of all the various trades.
Watching the aluminum welding progress, and process, is fascinating to me. Very impressed with the method of over- welding by 25 mm onto tabs! It seems your new vessel is built to extremely high parameters. Very good on ya, Plukky.
Cheers, and looking forward to more videos😊
sledge hammer boat building at its best, the hull is only 10% of the build, and the last 5% takes 50% of the time.
Aluminium mallet on aluminium or mild steel mallet leaves mild steel swarf on surfaces to corrode later, rubber plastic or timber don’t know
they are using some good material!
Wow,things are going fast
Goodonya Plukky!🧿🤙🌺🐝🐉🍄🐸
Who know whose boat is built there? I need to see a pluck plaque 😅
Need to be careful of welding flashes. I got flashed in both eyes many years back, can't even remember the exact moment i was flashed but both my eyes were terrible! Started to itch a few hours after returning home from work and gradually got worse, eventually i went to hospital at 2am and there was nothing they could do. Started easing off about 9am. It was torture!
really impressive.. then you see the welders are not using air fed filtered welding masks alloy welding fumes are really nasty
Great job, keep it up
Framing goes pretty quickly, even getting the skin on doesn't take very long when you have a crew working together. But getting the shell completed is still only 25 to 30% of the completed boat. Hang in there, you're on your way and we are sailing with you.
She is looking great Plukky! What will she have for propulsion? We have the Torqeedo POD Drives on 9LIVES, not sure I would use them on the next Boat.
Cannot wait to see this finished, Peter
Aluminum hammer very sensible. Later you will have to be very careful to what drops down in to the bilge as well – unless you don't mind some drainage holes you didn't plan on 🙂 Arc eye, very painful. Don't launch any time soon, you will go straight to the bottom 🙂
I am starting to think you'll be on the water much sooner than originally planned! Great work from the team! Hull will be built so quickly.Impressive.
Somewhat concerned the guy welding isn't using dark tint eye protection. Get the union on to it.
It appears that the bridge deck is not that far off the water and could be subject to slamming in seas. I am pretty sure minds with more knowledge than I have that sorted and it just an appearance from the shell
Cool
Get Silver Nitrate drops and keep them in the fridge. If you have welders flash symptoms at night. Sand feeling in your eyes. You can use a few drops. I am a third generation owner of a welding and fabrication company and learned to weld at 7 nearly 40 years ago. The worst burn you will receive is from reflections looking away. It is safer to look at the welder and close your eyes when he or she strikes an arc. Good luck.
Amazing. Plukky if you wear glasses you can’t get what we call a « flash « in your eyes. A flash is painfull , it is like having sand in your eyes. Project looking good.
Love this technical boat building stuff. Especially interested in aluminum.
Another good one. God bless you sir!
I like the inclusion of detail such as the welding spec. Fun to watch this build get going.
She's coming along swimmingly. Fantabulous!! 🤗💞
Bloody good job that's for sure. 👍
A steel hammer onto aluminium will damage the surface as well as what you said Plukky
Awesome. It looked like some of the workers were looking to have you ask them some silly questions and hear some humor with some praise when they were going on lunch break. Vietnamese are great folks…lots of fun.
I think they work just as fast when he's not there. But they do seem excited to be a major part of the "Sailing Into Freedom" channel, going forward! I think Plukky should think of them just like part of his crew on his old boat…get to know them, even their off-time… rocking ton's of great Plukky content. Serious!
And another watch through. Just can't help myself. :o)
I love the welder with his hood up on his head and welding at one stage without using it.
Will they be x-raying the welds to see that they are ok?
There seems to be a hive of activity and the guys know what they are doing . Great to see the progress
