❤ great
Buy? Anything from Northern Europe that's slow and tough. Avoid? Speedy boats. They may look sleek but I wouldn't touch one. They will cost a fortune, the tech will be out of date before it even splashes.
A Bering Yacht would be my dream Motor yacht, a Royal Huisman would be my dream Sailing yacht. Thanks again for the video David👍
Mine would be no bigger than a 24m at waterline mass production yacht . I saw a 2019 Pearl 80 and a 2020 Sunseeker 76 the other day . Both of which I thought was at a great price. I have bought my 1st boat ( a 5m Brig ) Which could possible be the tender .
Freedom, destination and family without jet lag… the way forward for me
I would buy the new 100 yacht from Sunseeker. But i also love Mangusta, Riva, Pershing, Cigarette, Galeon, Adrenaline, Palmer Johnson & a couple others.
It should definitely be an OCEANCO ❤
Have my eyes I set on a Y9 (just about the right size for me)… Y Yachts might not be a "big brand" but they do a lot of things very well!
This said, my list in terms of sailing yachts goes a bit like this:
Up to 24m LWL -> Y Yachts, Swan, Oyster
Up to 40m LWL -> Southern Winds, Wally, Swan
Above 40m LWL -> Royal Huisman, Vitters, Perini Navi
Not a fan of cats so didn't list Sunreef (doing a great job in this category) here…
❤❤❤
Since number 5 is family, i have a genuine question. Is she truly your wife or is she pretending because of the wealth?
Thank you for all the education and entertaining videos you've shared with us this year.Happy Holidays, and wishing you a safe and happy New year.
First, I would like to thank you from all of the Dreamers out there. Some of us may end up yacht owners. I, personally, have been looking to buy for some time. My first choice, right now, would be from the Ulstein Group.
Maybe one day. My choice would be a Fed-ship.
Reason #6: "I represent a lot of big brands". –David
I have owned boats my whole life and I love watching your videos and one day meet you in person my first boat was a sailing lifeboat on a cruise ship from the 1920 and my last was a three cabin two bath even had a fishing boat that had three cabins the boat statement has a sliding scale 1000 up to 20 feet and a hundred more per inch after you didn’t tell the one about the two best times you will have with a boat one when you buy it and two when you sell it lol you see I am part of the family when I got my last boat was with marine max when I sold it it was with a individual broker and I get emails all the time with the carrot underneath the stick from marine max but I love there good people in my book so all that being said hope you and yours a very marry Christmas and a happy new year when I toss one back for new years I will keep you and yours in my toast
You weren't just scraping the barrel a little with point 5, you were contradicting point 4 and arguing the exact opposite of reality.
As you say, new and innovative technology is expensive to develop, which is why it is usually the exclusive prerogative of bigger brands. Smaller brands can rarely afford to develop their own technology, so must rely on third party suppliers, who are themselves usually in the same boat regarding development of new technology. That is why most boats use the same standard equipment from a small number of large brand suppliers – so in the real world, smaller brands' boats are easier to service than boats from bigger brands because they don't have bespoke equipment. When did you last see a superyacht that did NOT have a Volvo, Man or MTU engine ? Or a Cummins / Onan genset ?
And as for finding it difficult to discern what equipment is fitted to a SUPERYACHT – what utter nonsense !
Each piece of equipment fitted to a superyacht will have more paperwork than you could ever read in a lifetime to ensure proper installation, use, maintenance, conformity to class standards and reduction of legal liability. If it doesn't, then no reputable shipyard would touch it with someone else's 10 foot bargepole. If you don't know what equipment is fitted to your SUPERYACHT, then you need to fire your captain and engineer and hire people who can do thier job properly… or just people who can read.
For me personally it's sunseeker everytime
David I have to agree about your owner saying that everything is better on a yacht. When I was at Clacton on holiday I had a wank on a pedalo and it was amazing.
happy xmass. thanks fot this year !!
Which engine brand is best for superyacht megayacht ? thanks
Thanks for the advice. I'll adjust my Christmas wish list accordingly.
I haven't seen a yacht yet that I truly like. It bothers me how shitty the living situation for the crew is on every vessel I've seen. These people are top notch professional 5 to 7 star service providers caring for mega million dollar rich boy toys and they get treated like peasants and shoved into steerage. All that luxurious space, most of which doesn't actually get used it's just there to make the boat bigger for the cock measuring contest, yet the team is literally stacked on top of each other in broom closets.
I have gone frequently to both P&J's website and Dennison Yachts' website. In searching once I wanted to find listings they had, searching by manufacturer's name. The drop-down menu they offered had so many hundreds of names, that I was a bit overwhelmed. I will be a first-time yacht owner, so this video makes sense, though I will wait for next week's video before forming an opinion. I'm slightly familiar with a few of the bigger brands from watching YT videos and listening carefully. I understand that by choosing for example you can buy a 40-year-old Feadship at a reasonable price, I have also learned from you Dave that the older the vessel, the more you will pay in running costs such as upgrades, refits, and maintenance. It seems to me after viewing thousands of video's that the older the ship, the more you will probably spend to bring it into the 21st century. The biggest problem to me is that every time I see a yacht that I would love to buy, I visit the website just to see a notice that it is no longer available. A good broker I'm sure could get me passed this hurdle.
I want a yacht for the fun I would have it's an investment in life not my wallet.
Peace and quiet. Getting away from it all is my top 5 addition
I would add well and long established brands. There are a number of smaller companies that have been around for years or decades that make great production or one off boats.
feadship. as big as can be reasonably owner-operated by a skilled couple. but lets be honest – in most circumstances a yacht is not an investment. it is a depreciating asset. that being said it offers many other than financial returns.
Apart from space, size, features ETC, I always look for range. There's a lot of choices available, but why do many of them have such pathetic range? I'd expect at least trans Atlantic capabilites.
I have always been a fan of Hargrave custom yachts.
