1. This is off topic and i dont know if you have talked about it but air conditioning is extremly important to get the humidity and heat under control espeacially in the tropics or you will not be happy campers . Run piping for ducts now.

  2. @01:31 "…the bolts are just there as a kind of a backup…" Right, but don't forget, also as an anti-squeak measure!👴😁
@02:02 Did you hear about the real cause of the fire that wrecked a 45 and a 50 foot Leopard cat? (happened some 3 years ago)👴😳😨

  3. 16:47 use a notched spreader to get a uniform coverage. I do flooring and spread glue all the time and it tweaks my gears every time I watch some boat channel trying to evenly spread glue with a flat trowel

  4. What a bummer about the adhesive. That’s horrible. Even worse to get bad product. Great on reassurance with the explanation of the type of aluminum used on the compression post. I’d like to see your Max last a hundred years. Happy New Year, be safe and fair winds! 😊

  5. Hope you got a refund on the first tube. I'll bet they wouldn't cover the cost of the gun. Looks like you're using a 1 to 1 mix, If you're going to use a lot more, I can check into an air driven gun. They're easy to work with and batch consistency is better with the even flow through the static head mixer. Let me know if you think it will help.

  6. I’ve been following MJ Sailing for a long time and have always enjoyed your content. Matt’s description of what he’s doing and why is very helpful with understanding what’s being done and why. Jessica’s voiceovers are absolutely wonderful (and it doesn’t hurt that she’s gorgeous). I live not far from you in Salisbury, MD😮

  7. Was there really a need to use methacrylate adhesive on the compression post? I would have used 5200 which is pretty much fool proof and provides tremendous bonding characteristics. Keep in mind that there is no pulling force on the plate material, strictly compression and sheer.

  8. I would have to buy some dickies coveralls as my "uniform" during the week. Then just wear them out. Y'all have trashed some bluejeans. Ha!

  9. Please explain something to me – thruout the videos both of you tell us about the technology behind what you are doing, how the compression post is assembled, how glues work, why all the sanding is done etc and then Jessica tell's us about this product that helps you sleep better. Are we supposed to believe that you have done the same amount of research on this Beam product as you have done on the other parts of the Catamaran? Or are you just blindly repeating what the sponsor has told you to say.

  10. I wish you had been more deliberate in showing us what material you used to bond the backing plate in place. I believe that Jess said it was some form of cyanoacrylate. I'll be needing something like that to glue in a bulkhead on my boat when I built the galley.

  11. I am a doctor with a large focus on nutrition. The pineal gland in the center of your brain produces melatonin. In biology, there is a saying, “use it or loose it.” I caution all of my patients against long term use of supplemental melatonin because it will weaken your own pineal gland’s production. In my opinion, melatonin should only be used for brief periods like a few days to overcome jet lag,

  12. 1. An electrically driven adhesive gun exists from several manufacturers. Wouldn't have helped you with the solid adhesive but makes applying a breeze. 2. Propane adds a lot of humidity when heating up an area, but you are probably aware of that. 3. It's called aluminium, because that's it's name 😄

  13. If you are siting on the bench in that corner will you be able to feel the mast vibrate from the wind? That could be cool.. you might know how the ship is sailing just by that vibration.

  14. If that 2nd epoxy mixing gun hadn't worked, there's always the Dewalt DCE591B to save Matt's wrist. Plus, another tool for the black and yellow collection!

  15. Not sure about that isolation between your s/s bolts and the plate, try sticking a multi meter on the bolt and the plate and see what your ohm's are, I bet your still connected.

  16. I sleep about 3-4 hours a night and have to many years. Think I'll have to give that Dream stuff a try. 👍 at this point I'm willing to try anything.

  17. Nice progress beautiful people. I feel for you working in the cold. My pool temperature in sunny Darwin Australia today was 33.9 degrees celsius!. It’s pretty damn warm up here this time of the year.

  18. Wow, MJ Sailing, you really faced some challenges during this catamaran build! But just like sailors out on the water, you overcame every obstacle that came your way and still managed to accomplish so much. It's amazing to see your determination and perseverance. Wishing you a belated happy new year, and may you continue to sail with fair winds and good fortune. Keep up the excellent work! 😊

  19. Why didn’t you drill and line up your holes before you added your adhesive you use the bolts to draw the adhesive together for it to dry just a suggestion also cut the tip of your gun back a inch it will come out much easier you spread it around anyways it will save your hand and arm muscles good job all around just remember I know it’s hard to not get side tracked trying to make everything perfect

  20. January 2024 … Are ye on schedule with your original time scale? I know where my schedule would be if I was running your project and it wouldn't be anywhere near where you guys are …. Stay Safe & Fair Winds!! ☘

  21. When we were fibreglassing our forebeam into our cat, we would put epoxy on the forebeam (after cleaning it) and then sand it with the epoxy on meaning there was far less oxidation– the bond lasted extremely well. Phil

  22. Read through all the comments and clearly no one is as childish as me, so here goes: "It works better when both sides are pushing." Yeah, she said it. 😉 😉 WRT the compression post, I am trying to find the link, but there was another YouTube catamaran sailor (maybe Parlay?) that recently replaced his aluminum compression post after finding a good part of it had corroded. I still would have taken the time to coat it with something to seal it (maybe after it gets a layer of oxidation?) that would not affect the bonding. As someone else mentions here, metal expands with heat, so I hope you allowed for that in all 3 dimensions, because both sides push.
