  1. Merci, Sophie! Très vrai ce que tu as dit, mais sur terre aussi on a les mêmes problèmes. Les maisons aussi ça brise, les taxes de propriété etc… mais garder un pied à terre, est un bon plan. Lâché pas! Cheers!

  2. Fantastic episode Sophie! I know that your videos are 5% of your life, so it is very refreshing to see someone tell the rest of the story. There are great rewords from your lifestyle, as you said, but also a high cost, so thank you for the honesty about real life. As always I look forward to the next episode. (And Ryan is due for another technical episode too!)

  3. It is not so much a concern living on a boat with one other person, but rather with 3 to 5 or more other competent persons needed for crew to allow sane watch schedules, on a boat that can support them. With that number, gone are the means and trickery usually used by wives on long-term relationships, but which must be replaced with more diplomatic and mass-appeal mechanisms used by captains throughout time.

  4. Aaaaa, so funny…we are on a sell the boat day! …I am saying that now when my other half also has had THAT day … today ….together……now after having a bottle of red ……in a crystal glass………we love our boat again……21 yrs on……Happy New Year Guys…thanks for another top year ! 👍🇦🇺🇳🇿🤪

  5. Thank you for this video. Your insight on the relationships on board and your own has hit spot on. We are sailing the world and have just recently started 7 months ago. It has been a dream or ours since we were married and now we are doing it. I particularly appreciate you mentioning have break times and time to yourself while cruising. I think this is so important, plus it is always great getting back together when you are apart, and I really think you grow stronger together when your partner is away. Anyway, I really appreciate you making this video, and all your videos. I have really enjoyed the education.

  6. I have to thank my wife for convincing me that we are “not selling the house to buy a boat”. We are both still encouraged to embark on this adventure, and we are looking to downsize to a smaller house, but we are not giving up land life. Future compromises will be interesting.

  7. Sophie this probably will make me sounds less than enlightened but I really enjoy your videos where you cook on board. Having someone on board that enjoys and knows how to make delicious meals is a big “benefit” and may move the distance between the cost and benefits towers a few more clicks. Btw the irony is not lost on me you showed Sailor James in the video. He started his sailing adventure married to a wonderful person. He even had a dog that was pretty cool. He lost both for sailing on YouTube. In the universe I live in this would be considered a failure. Ryan on the other hand has has a wonderful relationship with a cute French girl, a job that seems to be going in the right direction, gets to eat like king on occasion and has onboard someone that cares about his well being. Oh and he has learned a lot about plumbing. Seems like Ryan won the YouTube jackpot.

  8. One of the things we really appreciate about your channel is the *HONESTY* and *TRANSPARENCY* of your content. Trolls are gonna troll, but anyone that has actually lived on a boat knows that it's not all bikinis and sundowners.
Sophie; you do an admirable job of mixing your charm, beauty, and humour together to tell the truth about your experience. It seems like you don't really take the comments about negativity to heart and I really want to beg you to NEVER let them get you down.
We especially appreciated the advice to *TAKE A BREAK*. Full time ANYTHING dulls our senses and reduces the joy that we can derive from life, and planning from the start to cruise for seasons rather than permanently is probably the best advice you can give anyone considering your lifestyle.
    Keep up the good work!

  9. I understand that when going from city life to boat life everything changes but in practice i think going from life on a small holding to living on a yacht is less of a change , one example you are out in the forest cutting firewood and there is an equipment failure you can not joust leave it there you have to improvise and get it back to base and then fix it you're self redyeing on foreign expertise is simply to expensive both on a yacht and a small holding.

  11. Been a while since I’ve watched but this was a much needed subject that needed to be addressed.Even great for couples living on land,I really loved the pies explaining how much time and also how we divide our lives with many different people.Very good choice of subjects to discuss too, you’re a great speaker and very enjoyable and quite entertaining 😊love your accent and facial expressions 😮Also brave to admit problems we personally have or treatments needed to cope with problems.Very good episode with valuable content 👍👍👍😍

  12. Fantastic video guys, love the "news channel" approach.
I love how you aren't afraid to talk about the tough times and real things instead of just the blue seas and white beaches of paradise.
    Great work guys ❤

  13. This is an excellent video with great insight gained through doing the hard yards(aka nautical miles!!) and thanks for sharing. I have sent the link to sailing mates of mine who are embarking on this journey in the next while. We have (by chance, got off our yacht for four months each year for hurricane season ….. which was an idea that we did not realise at the time would be so beneficial in so many respects and also makes you so grateful to get back to the yacht after the break! It is also an advantage to have a complimentary skill set that each person brings to the voyage and lifestyle!

Sophia ……… you have a wicked sense of humour which really lifts your videos!

  14. Relationship Counselor Sophie – well done! I'm thinking one can have keel ballast of lead or LiFePo4 – figuratively. Yeah, one key to my happy marriage is hot water, 55-gal quick recovery so there is some hot water left for me. Am I now better equipped after 41 years of marriage? Heck yeah. Thanks for your time Sophie. :¬) Webhead USA

  15. Wow, what a great video! I love that you not only provide valuable insights on how to keep your sanity while living on a sailboat with your partner, but also make it funny and entertaining. It's so important to address the potential pitfalls of cruising and how to navigate them. You both deserve admiration for being honest about your mistakes, emotional needs, and the challenges you've faced. Bonne continuation à vous deux! 🌊⛵️

  16. Thank you for making a video like this. I already knew that cruising was not all rainbows and butterflies, but it's nice to see a slice of reality. I will check out your website because, even though I have been sailing for over 30 years and have been planning to go cruising about that long, I know that there are gaps in my knowledge. I have always felt that the more you know, the more you know how little you know.

  17. What a terrible video… I don't mean that at all, but figured you were getting tired of all the love in the comments below. I have been there trying to understand if I can swim to shore and pretend I don't know who owns that boat. Or, who will come and take you off the boat, except you can't, because there is no phone service and calling the Coast Guard because I am a wimp isn't allowed. I also worry about everything that could go wrong so I feel for, and maybe understand Ryan. It is really easy to convince yourself the boat is dragging, or the waves are really building, at night and wake up (groggily) to see your position to all the other boats is exactly as it was the day before. I do think having two of you helps immensely on the bad days when despair arrives. Thank you for a funny and wonderful video. I agree the good days are not that frequent, but so amazing when they happen.
