  4. Interesting to see that supporting songs sometimes is just about roots, 5ths and octaves. I have been playing a lot of Ping Floyd bass lately and there it is the same thing. So simple, it starts being a challenge not to veer off and start doing embellishments.

  19. Dude, I love your music and fully support you, I even just purchased your pentatonic book, but you have to change the title of these videos. I say this with all due respect, these titles make it sound like you are fishing for compliments.

  20. The things i always seem to take away when hear you play:
    1. you time feel is amazing! as a drummer and bass player, it's incredibly satisfying to watch a master in "real-time". Of course, so is your sound
    2. it's so very important to breathe… i feel like i could extract a masterclass from just analyzing the deep vs shallow breaths and how it connects to your choices.. that's probably a rabbit-hole
    3. movement aids the sound and feel… basketballers always talk about " follow-through" , or even the steps taken forward after a free- throw-never really understood it… but i do now! some people may think it's a gimmick or maybe "he's just feeling the music"… but idk.. i feel like there's something about movement and music.. music and motion.. it's like moving the air through the space powers the notes too..i guess i should say "shapes" the notes..

    thanks for sharing this process. it's incredibly rewarding to be able to hear and see the goal, the standard.you provide so many people with a "why". inspired!

  25. Excellent exhibition in the fact that position/timbre play equally important roles with note choice. Could have been played across the neck rather than up the neck, but it would have lacked the emotion the song needed. The little differences reveal the depth of the pocket. Deep pocket man.

  27. You have seriously become my new favorite bassist. Up there with Tony Levin, Sting, Leland Sklar, and Stanley Clark. So technically powerful, but tastefl and in the pocket with such unique style.
