  1. Mark your father is brilliant the things he is one of a kind nice to see your mother as well the bits you are doing for the cat is great nice chain plates and steering wheel nice see you next time

  2. GET IN ~ the workshop! Great to have lighting and walls on your workshop – I've got a massive project in a drafty dark barn so it is "On hold" this time of year!
How are you going to stop the rope slipping on that drum? Asking for 'a friend'!

  3. I gotta hear the full story behind the name of your parents boat! Also- as the son of an engineer I gotta say your Pops is absolutely awesome! I see so many of the little tricks I learned from my ole man. Appreciate that man- he is a rare breed of legend!

  4. Dear Mark,
It’s so good to see how you and your dad are realizing all kind of parts for Mahi. Especially the wheel for Mahi's rudders is a gem.
We look forward to your next vlog and send you love from the Netherlands

  5. Ha Ha I still have both Imperial and Metric Conversion Zeus Books I've been retired for 15 and still refer to them regularly.
    More reliable than Tinternet. 😃😃

  6. Water will seep past the oilite bushes and become trapped between them .Your wood block should be rot resistant or you can glue in some sort of tube with M3 5200 , Sikaflex or the like . The steering system works ecellently. In my experience even better if you connect the ends of the steering lines to the tiller ends rather then the centre of the tiller bar. If you glue/screw a rubber pad on your alu drum the steering rope will not slip and only thus three turns of line around the drum will be enough and very little tension on the steering line arrangement will be needed

  7. you all got a lathe, yet you welded a socket to a shank to extend it.. really? every machinist out there now has a migraine. i know i do.. also what about that key way on the wheel shaft?! you going to just let that thing slide on the shaft when you need it the most? common.. you have a lathe, cut a damn keyway! its easy. open a machinist handbook and look up keyways! it will tell you how to use your lathe to make a keyway.. gawd..

  8. Like others have said, great parents Mark, and like they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Good to see you ‘splashing’ out a little on yourself. Good to do sometimes to boost self encouragement. I imagine with a wheel like that you’ll be regularly hitting 50kts ⛵💨💨💨😃

  9. The Steering wheel is going to make a very nice addition to you sailing vessel. I'm actually surprised that it wasn't more expensive tbh. You deserve it, Mark. As an American I appreciate your family's love for the USA. Thanks

  10. Hi, I don't usually try to give advice here but the Oilite bushes are good but if in bare wood the wood will draw the impregnated oil out of the bushes along the wood grain and create dark stains. If you want to avoid this you could pull them out of the wooden block and seal the wood grain inside the bored hole with epoxy thinned in acetone.

They're good bushes though and your setup there should last well with them.

    Best wishes,

    Jamie

  11. Marc at my marina there is a Ketch cat that's been scrapped..it has two good masts and a full set of sails 200 quid. The main mast is 34 feet
