Good morning from snow covered Pennsylvania.
Reminds me of when we removed the flight control cables from my 10,000 hour Piper Warrior. Their condition was… alarming. 😂
Honestly there's only so much you can "service" anyway. In terms of seal or no seal, the industry changes their mind on this every few years or so. So depending on who you talk to, and who they got their advice from, they will tell you different things. Sealing either keeps rust out or "locks water in". I can see both points. Good job just going with what the manufacturer says to do. That's exactly what you should be doing.
Is heating the stay-lok fitting acceptable? Heating stainless changes its properties. At best you can passivate the heated part to bring the stainless properties back, but only to a point.
One of our insurance markets requires the standing rigging be replaced every 10 years! However, that is a market of ours that allows for international travel through the Indian Ocean to the South Pacific and whatnot so they're going to be more finicky than others, naturally!
That guy could lay of the sleaze a touch!
Great video, very informative and now you can sail with confidence in your rig. Cheers from Austin, TX
Wow ! Thank goodness for Steve !! Have a good week!!
I guess I am a little more anal than you are, I would have brought up a dremmel or drill with a light wire brush and cleaned up the tabs htat the shrouds attach to.

Really great work, especially while capturing everything on film. I probably would have replaced a few more components, but I won’t argue with your choices. It sure came out nice
