  1. I’ve restored a few after sinking and it’s a nightmare job. Everyone move done the insurance had totaled them but the owners wanted them restored. After the last one I did I decided it’s not worth what people will pay.

  2. If you don't know how to maintain a boat you shouldn't be able to own one. If you were away, you should have had an alarm to alert you via text of water intrusion. Can't fix stupid!

  3. I also feeling sad for you and the B is for Build team. The Mariner team did excellent with re-floating the boat. Good work and effort on finding and securing the leakage and soars thereof. Please do not attempt to start the two engines. They will have water be taken in from the intakes, exhausts and dip sticks. You are good in identifying various weak points and ideas in better and preventing the. Good luck on further fixing/building the boat.

  4. Damn… Our 30' cabin cruiser partially sank due to a muskrat chewing through something on the lower units. But it was only on a couple feet of water, so it didn't sink completely. Just needed to pump it out and then run to the launch ASAP.

Sorry this happened man… Rough result after all that effort this past summer

  5. you need to get the water out of the inside of the engines. pull the plugs pour oil in the cylinders. rust is the enemy of internal combustion engines. you might just think about pulling the engines. they will be the number one expensive item on the list. luckily it wasn't salt water.

  6. You can not leave boats stationary in tidal waters….Why are you leaving your boat in the Willamette during the winter lmao?

  7. Those motors need to be pickled immediately if you’re going to save them. Like now!!!! Everything else, and I mean everything will have to be replaced, that includes the wiring. Good luck. I hate to say it, but in all likelihood, the boat is totaled.

  8. Unfortunately, a proper build would include a thru-hull shut off valve. This is why she sank… get a boat maintenance course and repair her. At the moment, she’s worth not even a plugged penny.

  9. Why am I not surprised? This "project" has been a disaster from day one, starting with not checking oil levels in the engines and letting one of them seize, to replacing them with lightweight car engines instead of proper diesels.

More fundamentally, I never liked the whole attitude of these guys with their "fresh thinking," who smugly dismiss as old fashioned the views and advice of seasoned mariners who have been around the block and know, often from bitter experience, what works and what doesn't.

Now you are about to discover the realities of dealing with federal and state regulators, Coast Guard reports, environmental impact assessments, insurance investigators and a whole host of other matters implemented by those square idiots who mean business and don't appreciate the fresh, modern thinking of neophytes who already know everything and don't care to learn. That, in large part, is why they took over and weren't about to tolerate an amateur salvage operation.

Didn't quite foresee this particular end, but again, I am not surprised.
