As good as always. Cheers you’re the best❤😊
Loved the video, even the part of when the engines quit because off fuel. It reminded me of a similar experience.
Love it!
Glad you guys made it into the atoll safely. I can't remember which channel had diesel bacteria, but they ended up cleaning out the fuel tanks and entire fuel system as the bacteria kept coming back. What would have killed for the end of this episode would have been while you both were in bed discussing the day, you should have had Brian next to you, out of sight, not saying a word, then said "good night, love you" and then said, "ok Brian you can go back to Delos now" and putting a light on him, showing him cuddled under the covers smiling. You guys are great. Cheers and fair winds
Fun times.
We are electric. Have two hours at full throttle. Must sail. Completely understand your diesel issue though after ten years nursing one along. It’s always something. On our diesel we had to empty the tanks and clean them because of gook that kept blocking the discharge hole. Hope you escaped that. So glad you made it OK.
Enjoyed, good one, again. Prompted me to change the filters on my Volvos…caught some gunk early! Thanks, Andrew
Well, Warran, that looks ectsactly the same I had in my tank. First I thougt it was diesel bugs but it turned out to be the inner lining of the fuel filling lines. Better check it up.
Diesel bug. a fuel polishing system is needed and or treatment for tanks.
Captain Rick Moore, sailing Sophisticated Lady episode 367 15min in helps explain ocean current and trash in the carribean Panama coast
Time for some Racor type filters? A little difficult to mount in the engine room on a Helia but I found adequate space for each engine. Easier to observe issues and change filters before anything gets to the engine filter.
Warren if you have the room, put two rancore filters side by side and when the one filter gets clogged up turn your Ball valve to the other filter. You don't lose your engine and you can change the other filter under way.
Ok looks like ya'll are still having fun. We have had a Is exciting day with the volcano. She is about to go up any second or hour or day now. We have had a sworm of earthquakes sents midnight to now ( 11:11 a.m. Hawaii time on January 31 2024) we have had over 200 earthquakes. So we are all Expecting the red stuff soon! What fun!
Ok ya'll stay safe out there and until next time, Aloha from your friends on the Big Island! Cheers 🍻
Wow, that quick take off by Brian the minute he got a beer in his hand was, well, ok ! Brian saves the day again !
Another great video guys!
You're making the think a fuel polishing system is a good idea when traveling like you do.
Always nice when folks run into Delos…those Manta's though! absolutely great capture of images, great editing as always! CHEERS!
Hey, your crew wanted to know what sailing was like, and this is what sailing is like!
All that play time you should have done a bit of preventive maintenance! 1:48
Love you guys!
Beautiful.
I'm just going to call out the awesome passage, peaceful, slow, chilling travels. gotta love a boat cutting through the water. keep up the good work you two!
Living life in paradise!
Amazing footage…….THANK YOU SO MUCH!
👍🎣⛵💯
Awesome footage of swimming with the rays!!
You are the best! Order 6 more backups!
❤ from 🇨🇦
Great video and underwater filming. I haven’t been diving for a while so this helps me from going crazy! Hi to your Delos neighbors!
You guys have the best video’s!
Great episode. You’ll be at 100k soon with content like this.
holy shit! that is clear water and those mantas were beautiful!
That was an exciting dive. What kind of Rays were they?
Time to put in secondary filters for each engine . Just a quick lever switch to change filters.
Wouldn’t worry about turning motors on instead of sailing. I’ve just been watching another sailing channel and he has a million dollar cat and hates sailing, motors from fuel dock to fuel dock . Used probably 1000 + litres to cross the Atlantic. Thanks for great vlogs.
The dreaded fuel bug. I have recently polished the fuel in the same cataraman as yours. Lots of water in the bottom of the tank as well as the black bug. Check out the the oring on your deck filler.. Replace or add some grease. Also the breather is under the Aft beam & can under certain conditions allow water in. Do not use fuel doctor as it absorbs water into the diesel which will slowly destroy the pump & injectors on a common rail engine. Good luck with sorting it.
Are you guys ever going to sail someplace other than French Polynesia?
Do you add and Algicide / biocide to the fuel from time to time, or when you fill up?
Love it 🥰
As soon as you said the rpms were fluctuating, I thought "fuel problem." Had the same thing happen many years ago and such a pain to fix.
Excellent video.
Amazing episode! You guys are awesome. Thanks for sharing
I have a couple of old '82 Mercedes 300D's. Have you looked at the Archoil brand of fuel additives? Not trying to advertise or anything, but the stuff has really smoothed out performance on my old diesels. Don't know if they have a marine line or if it's all the same.
Guys, I never comment on these because we watch on our Big TV for effect and send PM's. So, I thought I would just on and say hi and how wonderful the adventures have been to watch unfold. Can't wait to see you both when you finally decide to venture over to Fiji.
Always a totally groovy episode. Love you guys.
