Ben have you forgot the wooden Lather just turn the dolls down to the size that you need, use their drill as a template on how big it needs to be and just leave it just a little bit bigger, and you should be able to cut off a piece and put it right in.
Rain rain, go away. Come again another day.
SRILL HERE
Should have used thru bolts instead of lag screws. Lag screws in that application are questionable at best.
Hey I like your two stowaway fur babies !! Weren't those two marina guard dogs ?? LOL !
G'day Crew,
The hard work sure takes it out of you .
In years to come ,these days will be amongst the best in your life .
Stay safe & healthy .
Respect….!
Chain plates should NOT be attached with lag bolts. There should be Grade 8 bolts through the hull with a generous backing plate on the inside and lock nuts.
Great progress❤
Tip for Sika finishing: Lay the bead, lightly spray water on the bead, dip your finger in water, and then smoothen. A couple drops of soap(dish soap) in the water helps further with creating pretty seams.
And dont worry, seams can be cut out with a blade and re-done.
When the world seems to be conspiring to stop you remember it could be worse, you could live in an area that has temperatures well below freezing and buried in snow right now, or in an area that you can't leave anything unattended or it will get stolen and sold for scrap before you even make it home from work. Be thankful for what you have and remember that others would give everything to be in your situation and it will make the rain seem like a minor delay and nothing to stress about. That little bit of knowledge helped me appreciate all the good things in my life and quit wishing I had what someone else had like that was what I needed to be happy and it made my life much better. Cheers.
For pre drilling you only need to drill the size of the "heart" of the main drill. The middle piece where both cutting edges come together.
For drilling stainless steel reduce the speed to 1/3 of the normal drill speed.
If it doesn't work let me know, I'll be in your area next week haha
Here's to less rainy weather!
You will do it! Looking forward to what comes, especially the splash! 🌊⛵
Ben ! Your such a hard worker ! The rain is a pain in the neck, but you will hit the water in the right time , if you miss your date then it gives you time to just get other things done , don’t stress out we re with you everyday , wish I was younger and healthy I would come down from USA and work for free to help, you guys !👍🏻👍🏻
Dear Maria Paula and Ben,
Willeke and I love these stainless steel parts who will support the mast. We don’t know the name of these parts but these look perfect on Yabá.
We look forward to your next vlog and send you love from the Netherlands
CHAIN PLATES MUST BE THROUGH BOLTED WITH STEEL BACKER PLATES ON THE INSIDE FACE OF THE HULL! I have posted this before, lag bolts will be pulled out and the boat will be demasted resulting in an uncontrollable unavagatable boat.
This boat is not safe for blue water cruising of any type
I apologize for the translation. You said that usually the type of boat like yours doesn't have shrouds, the masts are just resting on the keel, so the rigging you're assembling might not even be there. But usually the chainplates are tied to another internal support, either made of wood or steel, which unloads onto the keel. Mounted as you are doing, there is a danger, if they work, that they could tear the band board where you are fixing them. All the traction is discharged on a wooden plank which is only nailed and in the long run, it could move. It's just my thoughts.
Morning Ben and MP, loving the daily vlogs, I sure it’s hard work with the daily grind
Just finish everything,no rushing, and than go to the water , you still have plenty of stuff to do and the break in the shrimp fishing will give you time to do that
Tô viciado😂😂😂❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Getting closer to launch time pity about the weather 😊😊
Three lag bolts on a chain plate ???? Why would you not through bolt them ?????
More rain delays, broken bit, lessons learned.
one day closer, great update 2x👍
A bucket with a rpoe is also called toilet (mostly in emegency).
Ok get back to work…….
Great day 18
Waiting day 19
All the best guys
❤❤❤❤
Surely the focus should be things below the waterline – maybe I am wrong but the chain plates could have been done after launch from the dock side. Just a though on where to focus
Keep at it
You have to work more than 18 minutes a day if you want to finish.Joke.How about setting up a 24 hour livestream for the boatyard?
Keeps my morning busy 🙌 Thank u 👍
You were trying to launch sometime within the 1 month that the shrimp boats are off season? So waiting sets you back a couple weeks at most?
Well done Ben, that looked really tricky but you have done it to perfection again. Stainless is tough on drills. Keep well and safe. James.
