  1. Every time you do a broom stroke dip it in a bucket a water on both sides of your brim then shake off the extra water And do that over and over😊A tip I remember from a concrete contractor friend is using a bug sprayer with diesel and spray that on your wood forms and they won’t stick to concrete and you can use the forms over and over.

  2. If you use #2 or #3 size gravel as a base about 3-4 inches thick and track it in good you will have a good solid drive. The larger gravel will not wash away or sink out of sight. You will need to top with size 57 to smooth it out.

  3. GJ Matt❕❕😉👍👍You nailed it. Don't worry about the stains their do to moisture under the plastic and the cement heating up. A pressure washer will remove it. Plus you can drive on it 48 hrs later not 30 days. The longer times are the amounts when concrete stops curing. Did you know the Hoover Dam is still curing to this day.

  4. Hi GBU, great job on the driveway entrance. I hope there wont be an issue, with as much rain as you get, risking breaking down of the soil below the center rocks under mining the concrete and lead to possible cracks? at our home budget sidewalk we added polished colored pebbles into the concrete in the center of the sidewalk square to make the pattern we wanted, to get that custom look. also idea how about a rubber stamped concrete in your center to get a cool design? you want it good n solid going down hill. Also did stain around a very large interior stamped patio beautiful for a couple of years but then became patchy in color looked tacky, so a big cost for short return of beauty .. you could stain the stamped center area…less area to get weird, would give beautiful contrast and a very custom look, just saying…I enjoy your videos very much cant wait to see the project develop.

  5. your slabs will try to slide down the hill after pouring because of their weight and how steep the slope. dig deep grooves across the sections so there is something holding the sections. "Channels", yes!

  6. Matt , done a lot of concrete, you need some deep joints for the cracks that WILL happen in that large of a concrete pour. Also you should try to hire some help, thats a lot of area for one person to finish. Good luck.

  7. The pattern from the plastic will disappear with time. Looks like you got some red dirt on it at well – that will go away as well. By the time you read this, it is too late, but keep the concrete wet and covered with plastic for at least a week. It is not good for concrete to dry out while hardening.

  8. Matt…you can toss small stones/gravel on top of the wet cement, then right when it starts to harden, spray it with water and wash some of the concrete away and 'raise' the stones.

  9. I suggest forgetting the gravel idea. I have a long gravel driveway and every few months I have to spray grass/weed killer on it (PIA and $$$), or the gravel turns into a jungle. Go with concrete.

  10. Hey Matt I won't even go into the wire thing you will figure it out . U don't have to put nothing under the wire u just lift it up a little as u go

  11. Hey, how about using SP2 base because once as you could, it’s flattened and he gets wet it set up just like concrete and it doesn’t go away like rock and stuff does so even if it on the hill once it’s been wet after you packed it down and everything it’s pretty much like concrete. Good luck, busting it up to put a slab there.

  12. really awesome work.. so impressed.. i like the slab idea.. with expansion lines between each slab it would look so great.. it will contrast so well with nature.. maybe some potted plants along the edge.. and/or lights.. you can ride bikes on it.. walk on it easy.. and it feels like something really substantial.. and it would fit well with the front fence.. maybe you could have square gravel patches for parking off the side of the main concrete road at the top and bottom.. maybe gravel along the edges then nice grass lawns.. anyways.. really great job
