6. I read that Chaparral's owner owned multiple (less than pristine) boats.
   Liens against one or more of them would pay part of the salvage costs and seizure could prevent future problems with his boats.

7. Sooo why don't they float the boat out with air bags. They've been used on larger projects. Sounds like they just want to be able to get the big bucks.

9. `Stopped making payments`? Then why are the crew still working?
   I was working for an environmental company in the UK. In 2014 they were bought out by a separate company on the Friday, and I stopped working for them on Monday. And sued them on Tuesday for monies owed. I got the money less than a month later… No pay = No work…
   I also took five thousand quids worth of stock in lieu of payment until they paid. Surely the seafarers can rip out some engines or pull out the artwork until they get paid?

14. I don’t have a lot of sympathy for folks who make their living working for criminals.

15. Here in California, he Coast Guard will contract with a salvage company for removal of grounded vessels if the owner does not or can not make arrangements. The Coast Guard will then file a lien against the owner of three times the amount of the salvage. They do do this, I saw it done once to a boat owner I knew. Salvage cost was 7K, they put a lien against him for 21K.

16. Congratulations on your 2nd anniversary, it's been an interesting 2 years for me. I've learnt such a lot about not only different types of boats, but about the politics of the yachting world. Particularly since the Ukrainian war the movement of wanted boats ect. It's been fascinating. Thank you.

17. From a UK resident, i know if you have a car on the road you have to have at least 3rd party insurance to use it on the road otherwise the police will seize/tow it. Is it that hard to make sure that yachts are insured??

23. Crew should require an up front deposit just in case something like this happens in the future. That way the owners don't rip them off. Their contract should also state that if a payment is delayed than the crew is still full time employed till payment is made. That way the crew gets condensation eventually regardless if they are still actively working or not.

34. We delivered a super yacht across the Pacific into barbers point where The somewhat derelict chaparral was based along with the derelict owners. After meeting them not surprised at all that boat is on the beach. Doubt they're hard to find on Oahu……$$
