  1. I am so happy to see you guys sailing again. Seeing the two living on land is OK, but it doesn't seem natural to me. When you two are on an ocean or sea both of you look as if there are no problems in the world, just peace, comfort and happiness. What do you mean you gotta get Uma to float again? She was floating the last time I saw her. It wasn't feasible to live on her but she was still floating. Also I must compliment Kika on the long, beeautiful, wind blown mess you call hair it is simply gorgeous. Never cut again, please. Dan, you lucky bugger keep that woman away from hair salons where they offer hair cuts.

  2. Fires on boats are really bad, now imagine an exploding lithium battery fire happening in only a few seconds. Below are a few articles talking about lithium battery fires. The titles of the articles are in bold. Would include the links, but Youtube deletes comments containing links.

Lithium-ion battery fires are happening more often. Here’s how to prevent them

"In all of these fires, these lithium-ion fires, it is not a slow burn; there’s not a small amount of fire, it literally explodes,” FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh told reporters. “It’s a tremendous volume of fire as soon as it happens, and it’s very difficult to extinguish and so it’s particularly dangerous.”

Deadly cargo ship fire still burning on vessel carrying 500 electric vehicles in North Sea

The Dutch coast guard said Thursday that the cause of the fire was unclear and that only about 25 of the vehicles on the ship were EVs, but in the audio of an emergency call released by Dutch broadcaster RTL, someone can be heard saying "the fire started in the battery of an electric car."

Are lithium-ion batteries to blame for recent boat blazes?

Fingering lithium-ion as the culprit is a tricky business, according to Captain Herb Magney, consultant with First Look, Inc. “There are cases where it has been proven that the lithium batteries have been the culprit of recent fires,” he tells me. “They are highly suspect in the majority of the rest. The biggest obstacle to proving they are the culprit is that all of the evidence is usually at the bottom of the sea or a marina or just destroyed in the fire.”

Yacht battery blaze sparks further fire safety concerns

Superyacht crews have been warned of the dangers posed by lithium-ion (Li-ion)batteries following a fire which led to the loss of a vessel in an Italian port last year.
Three British seafarers and a Spanish stewardess managed to escape uninjured after jumping overboard when the blaze broke out on the after deck of the 220gt motor yacht Siempre in the port of Olbia last September.

  3. I don't get the point of this boat as a hybrid. You're running two huge diesel engines for at least for hours a day anyway. Rip it all out, stick in two diesel engines, improve the solar and you have a simpler, more efficient, lighter system.

  4. Like all electric boats, you never want emergency power for emergency situations because it's just not there. For charter short hops between anchorages, it seems to work OK. For a high-windage boat like a cat or tri, I would not do this.

  5. way too complicated boat for my taste. Without solar and re-generation the whole Hybrid thing is useless. The concept is strange. A 4 star Hotel for water vacation, isen´t that the opposite of what you want when you are out in nature with friends and family. Totally boring, zero adventure.🤔 Just my opinion🤷‍♂

  6. Great show enjoyed the content
one question , that boat is set up for 14 people . UMA is set up for 2 people . How does its power consumption stack up to 7 UMA's ? Taking into account the larger boat would be set up much different if you owned it . On regen and amount batteries would drain before Gens kicked in . Since it is set up as a comfort power hog right now

  7. Coming from someone (myself) with an off-grid (landlubber) background it makes zero sense to have that boat be electric given you have two gensets to maintain. The charter/short sail issues are at play for sure but it sure seems like a "green" sales pitch to insanely decadent charter guests but whatever works. Having to run 44kw of diesel genets just to move makes zero sense. Rich persons green yacht.

Sure hope your not going to be baited into some option like this.. your setup seems way better.
