  1. Yeah, Royal Caribbean is getting really sketchy. At certain points in the year, I book based on dates. I just came back from Royal Princess, and I sailed on that ship, that date, because it best fit my calendar. I was more flexible with cruise lines and ship than I was with dates. Given that Royal Caribbean is altering the ship, the dates, and the length, a full refund should be on the table. It doesn’t even get into the minor issues, such as preferred staterooms long ago booked now being tossed.

2023 was the year Royal Caribbean managed to go from my preferred brand to just another brand I’d sail on. The food quality is in free fall, the Diamond Lounges are so overcrowded I gave up trying to go, and the social hosts arrived late and hung-over. There was some kind of crew party on my Royal Princess cruise where they closed the buffet for the night, but I didn’t see any evidence the crew was impaired the next day.

  2. Hi Don, thanks for the information. I realize the cruise lines are paying off debt incurred during the pandemic, but if they refund passengers when the cruise line changes the itinerary, passengers will more likely book with them again. Conversely, if they refuse to refund passengers for these instances, passengers will look elsewhere to spend their cruising dollars.

  3. Bait and Switch is actually illegal, so I'd be surprised if the customers would lose in court on this one! If I was a customer, I'd sue them. This is one of those times, whereby I think it is worth fighting.

  4. What a change of business mentality in just a few months. A year and a half ago Royal wouldn't have even think of treating customers this way. Is this coinciding with the arrival of the new CEO? Enormous profits bring heartless directives…doesn't matter ships are still full.

  5. Royal changed our cruise from Freedom of the Seas in December 2025 because she was going into dry dock. We were given 3 different dates on Oasis or can take a Cruise credit. We had insurance on the cruise that we booked through Royal and they updated the insurance to the Oasis cruise as well as gratuities. They also told us that insurance would be included when we The Oasis cost $200 more if I booked that cruise myself at the time of our Freedom booking. It was $250 more if I booked it at the time of cancellation.

  6. I really don’t understand the problem, you have over a year before the selling. At that price you should have insurance. I do hope that RCL offers a refund. But insurance at all costs

  7. That makes no sense. If you make a contract with them to sail on a specific day and a specific itinerary? That’s what you contracted for. Now once you get started if the itinerary changes because of weather or something like that? I understand. But this far in advance? That’s just wrong. I agree you should get your money back. And none of that future cruise credit. Total refund is what needs to happen. The option should be the passengers option, not the cruise line.

  8. If they don't get their money back I would vlog everyday on the cruise they were forced to take and post interviews of passengers of how they felt… put it on the internet.

  9. This has just happened to us , the insurance does not cover it . We have to reschedule everything, including flights. Is terrible . Is so stressful, after this is going to be goodbye Royal .
