  2. Love your boat tours, but I have to say what everyone should know by now: solar panels are not eco friendly. Sad that they keep putting out those toxic things. Beautiful ship. Just gorgeous. It would be nice if they'd all switch to lithium iron as opposed to lithium ion. Lithium iron lasts longer, holds a charge better and less susceptible to fire.

  6. Eco boat? More like diesel electric boat. There isn't nearly enough solar power or battery storage to do more than idle through the no wake zone. Hence the 2000 gallon fuel tank with a 40000 option…… An expensive option to make you feel good, nothing more.

  22. I always hoped Sunreef would lead in innovation for self sustained boating. Just throwing lots of solar panels is not enough though. In addition there needs to be energy source providing baseload energy. This could be with aquathermal (same concept as geothermal), capturing wave kinectic energy lapping at the side of boat, etc.

    Instead of using costly Li-ion batteries, Redux Flow batteries should be used for overall power storage and then smaller Li-ion batteries to power electric motors specifically. Instead of traditional fuel engines and generators, use hydrogen fuel cell powered generator. Boats already come with water makers and adding electrolyzer to separate hydrogen from water and provide near free fuel for generator is a no brainer. I would greatly prefer a vessel that focused on the next gen tech improvements to the boating arena instead of all the admittedly glorious luxury.

  23. Beautiful boat! However, how many of their yachts have caught on fire because of the lithium batteries? I know that many of the ev vehicles are catching on fire and the news media is not reporting it. So, what does one do when the batteries ignite 100 miles from shore? I like the idea of the solar panels but I’m not sold on the lithium batteries. No Sale!

  25. Two concerns:
    – what if you get bad weather in the middle of the Atlantic. How long will the batteries last?
    – how big will that bill be when the batteries go kapput at the end of their lifetime?

This is what happens when you have somebody with a great idea and instead of hiring people that run a company for a living they try to do it themselves. The husband and wife team who aren't business savvy people didn't let go of the reins fast enough and held on and now they're going bankrupt

  30. IF they can't sell EV vehicles why would you buy a boat. I don't have that kind of money for that Boat, but it would be a BIG NO. You can watch your boat on fire from your rescue Boat as it sinks. These things are not ready yet. Buy an airplane EV, hope you believe in GOD. Good luck.

I am a bit sceptical on the energy requirements, my feeling is you need a huge area of solar to continuously power such a vessel, more than might be stretched out over the area available, so I expect we are looking at a fine weather day cruiser, that mainly uses shore power, that tops up with solar as to extend the range and mitigate grid use on the pontoon.

  41. Lithium Ion is so dangerous. They could have gone with LFP Lifepo4 batteries which are safe. They have 2 banks engine and house. The new LFP version has 350 watts per kilo and LI has 300. Even if they went with old LFP technology its 250 watts per kilo. They have the space so why not make it safe.
