Don't 4get to safety wire the shackle pin. I lost my hook and woke up in the mangroves all cause I lost that thar tightened but not wired pin. Never found the hook (it wasn't painted white!). 5:00 your rope is rated at that for a single line, I'm a crane operator and what happens when you return your rope you are doubling the load that can be carried at the looped end where your chain is (you should also have an eyelet at that point to prevent wear and premature failure over time), so your rope in that configuration is actually twice as strong as the rating on the chart (27,600 lb). The same rule applies if you continue adding returns on your rope.
And if you tie a bowline knot at the ends that connect to your lifting eyes then it doesn't matter how much load you place on the knot, you can always undo it without cutting your rope (if the rope is not under tension).

I have a loft and one time water got inside the cover and corroded the motor. I pulled the cover off and drilled a small hole and put a string into the hole to wick any water out.

Nice review on selecting anchor rode and the need for a line attachment below decks. And if you do need to slip the anchor, as you mentioned, be sure to attach a float of some type so you can retrieve it later. But do not attach the float to the chain, rather tie a piece of line 150% longer than the water depth, and tie the float to it. Otherwise, the weight of the chain will submerge the float.
