Just because you can afford a boat, doesn’t mean you can operate one. Planes and super cars included. Maybe even a blender.
ah the architect. gets off almost scot free, wow all he needs to do is pay some fines and being rich that just p155 in the wind. One rule for the rich.
If you look at his course they would have run out into open ocean, in his state they could easily have gone for several hours at 20 knots.
I hope this ruling could set a precendent for impaired boating globally. it's really not a joke and can put alot of lives at risk. Thank you for this video.

Looks like it used to be a very nice boat, but hardly a super yacht.
I recall a similar story, being on a boat in the Solent, when we were stopped by an elderly gentleman looking for directions. When asked what he was using for navigation at night he brought out an AA road atlas! No GPS, no marine maps. Sad as F.! But at least he was sober, if stupid!
Just as well, the supposed captain of the £200,000 tender will need to work to pay off the debt owed to his former friends after that disastrous crash.
For reference, SiOnyx Aurora Day/Night Camera is about £800. There might be cheaper options, pricier right up to options that cost several times what his boat is worth. But for less than a grand you can have a camera that you can take with you boat to boat that you can use to drive at night. Yes, red light and night vision should be part of the mix. But amplification is available too, affordably (and doesn't kill night vision). We're out of the Age of Sail these days.

That felt a light sentence – suspended means no time served I think unless another crime is committed, so hardly a real deterrent. I’ve always had a can of beer when sailing and frankly I’ve known plenty of skippers who liked a tipple – but these were years ago and this was using sails. The proliferation of very high powered vessels has really changed the environment – I do feel licensing should now come in, a great shame but having a big motorboat hammer past at high speed can be quite intimidating.
His passengers must have been a bit drunk to have trusted him to safely pilot the vessel.
