It was such a relaxing video even with the outboard running. The pace was so gentle.
Watching the Junk rig in action has given me a desire to try one out for myself.
And I loved the concept of twin keels especially for drying out.
What? Are your port side markers green in the U.S. ?!?
Yòu could benefit with a winch to hoist that sail!
Alan, that was a get video this week. As you work down The Bay you will find a thousand wonderful anchorages to explore on this huge estuary. With over 3,600 miles of coastline on the Chesapeake to explore , you can spend a lifetime cruising to new anchorages every day.
As a previous comment stated " very relaxing"
Maybe you should consider exploring "The Bay" in greater detail before rushing off to distant waters.
Thanks as always for taking us along.
Sassafras! I only heard that in old cowboy films till now, had no idea it was a place. ✊🏻🏴
Sassafras River is lovely. The only downside is the long motor out to the bay from the main group of marinas. Also because of the time of year, you aren't getting buffeted by the 2 million power vessels that call it home. When the bikinis are done, so are they…. You can actually sail out if the wind is right. Anxious to see the rest of your adventures, you are entering my primary cruising grounds…..
Is that conch shell horn necessary? is that a tradition? just curious
WR is not just a good safe offshore small boat, she's a great boat for gunkholing too.
Sail handling and anchoring from the safety of the aft deck is a great feature.
Hey, thanks for mentioning your sail plan, point of sail, speed and all that, as you can imagine some of us are interested in how the boat goes in varying conditions. Also I wonder if you are thinking about how a motor well would have worked out.
Hi Alan, more of your setup for cooking, sleeping, ready available and everyday clothes, stowage, foul weather gear stowage and navigation furniture setup would be appreciated, –
A delightful sail indeed … thanks! Watching that junk sail come down ever so smoothly was almost magical! PS: A few interesting nautical destinations ahead … Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St Michaels, Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons and the Mariners’ Museum, Newport News. Fair winds and hold fast! ⛵️⚓️🇨🇦😄
Are you going to go down the ICW passing Coinjock or are you going to brave the open ocean outside Cape Hatteras?
alan, am i correct that you traveled west out of the canal, south in the bay and lastly east on the sassafras? sail on……..
Great video. You do like to get close up views of buoys. RW is just perfect for gunk holing in addition to being a sturdy save craft.
I'm glad you are exploring and enjoying your destinations. So many sailors are driven to go go go. And then regret not stending longer at their stops. 😊😊😊
Boring
A B C D accomplished, but no sassafras in the sassafras . Ray is forging his own adventure.
That's a very nice boat he's got there.
Alan, what seasonal factors figured into your decision to leave Canada when you did?
Excellent having the camera set up at the stern, captures everything so well!
Are you afraid of the mast getting ripped out if you ever get rolled?
My old stomping ground! Did you happen to catch a glance of the Turkey Point lighthouse?
I'd suggest sharing the temperature from time to time to provide a better feeling for the conditions. In the canal your friends were wearing shorts, you were bundled up. Baffling.
The top of the wind vane blade is mounted so close to the bottom of the solar panels – glad it works for Wave Rover.
Nice, new, crinkly sailcloth! Still have the new scent? 🙂
Sassafras Mountain, SC. Highest mtn in SC, right up the road in Rocky Bottom!
