16. There is a strange, timeless aspect to the smaller Bahamas which is comforting and encouraging all at the same time. One of my favorite visits was to Cat Island back in 2001, diving off the wall on the Southern end in the deep trench running to the Tongue of the Ocean. We were invited to a "Church Social" and had a wonderful afternoon of stuffing ourselves with BBQ Chicken and wonderful Pies the ladies made for the occasion. Anywhere you drove, you had to shoo the goats and chickens off the road. I'll bet it hasn't changed a bit in these 23 years…

18. Again, please stay away from ports where the natives……..are restless and opportunists….Bahamas is trouble, and Hispaniola and west end Haiti is controlled by drug gangs and dark natives who are restless, lawless, and American/gringo haters. Stay on your guard.
