  1. You have made tremendous progress! A lot of the grunt work is behind you, and it’s so rewarding when you begin finish coats of varnish and paint. I miss the latter from my youth, but not the grunt work! 😊

  5. There’s only one place you can go from Mozart to poop in the space of 15 minutes or so – Sailing Seabird! 😂 Kudos to you two, it’s coming along terrifically even though it may seem like a hard slog at times but all your efforts will pay off in spades. Well done and thanks 😉 Geoff

  6. Great to see you are making such good progress.. As far as bilges are concerned you are always going to get water in. Condensation . rain if you leave a hatch open. List goes on. I see you seem to be filling all the possibilities for having a decent sump to pump it out of. Not so much of a problem on a motor cruiser, but on a yacht which tips over a lot a real issue and that’s because you can end up with a gallon or two in bad weather in you kitchen draws, bunk storage and anywhere else you don’t want bilge water to be. On Seabird I would suggest a sump with a capacity of at least 8 to 10 liters. However pretty you make it doesn’t matter if you can’t effectively pump it out. Good luck with your plan to get back living aboard.

  7. Would it make any sense to abandon all other work on your boat in order to focus on sealing all the leaks intrusion points, including the companionway hatches, hardware, and anchor locker? I don't see much gain in spending time on the outside when you need to live inside.

  8. Styrofoam will melt with polyester or vinyl ester resin, but not with polyurethane or epoxy. Polyisocyanurate (Celotex) and polyurethane foam is stronger than expanded polystyrene. Surfboards are usually made from polyurathane foam in the core.

  9. More glass work, need to see some sanding now lol! Keep going Stu and Marina, not long before you move back in. Itll be good to be working on it from wake up I guess. Good luck guys – but one thing we don't have to see you doing the poop in the new toilet, we are good for that thanks! We will believe you lol!

  10. May I suggest that you consider a vapour barrier on the warm side of the insulation that should help reduce condensation against a cold hull. Black tar paper might look nice showing through the gaps between the batons.
