   Art wise, we've been here before: Scared by a tech that promises to swallow us whole. Decades ago, the boogeyman was digital media and 3D. And before that, photography, and so on. The industry changed, but its ecosystem never died. Niches shifted, and professionals added new tools and ethics to their set.

   As for bad actors, they'll always exist, although it's a mistake to condemn an entire tech due to people of weak moral fiber.

6. AI is nothing like NFT’s, because AI actually has real world practical applications, and NFTs literally do nothing and have no inherent value.

14. lol ai is completely different from nfts bc it’s an actually useful technology: it has a massive utility in saving u time and effort in tasks previously only a human could do. nfts on the other hand, are just a blockchain for selling the rights to say u own a digital picture – not really a technological innovation at all bc we already had blockchains

15. Not gonna lie, I had a co-worker who swore by nfts when they got big. He said he put all of his families savings into it and was watching his investment double in value. But as you can imagine he lost everything. He was a nice guy too,hard worker, so im not hating, just sad that he got suckered. I haven't heard from him in almost 2 years, i hope he is doing better.

25. Man, I remember when a cousin of mine ( a couple years ago) mentioned once in passing how I should get into the NFT's (as I'm an artist), and my immediete reaction was, "Hell no." And the genuine response of "Why" gets me still. Unless you go looking for the information, the average individual at that time just didn't know how much of a scam it was. Now? Most folks know somewhat, but you still have to look into specifics to fully understand the grift aspect.

29. There's three major differences between the America dollar and crypto/NFT: oversight, oversight, snd oversight.

    The dollar has an insane amount of infrastructure designed around it. Try to imagine recreating your own currency that matches the U.S. government and private banking sector. I don't care how big your company is. You won't even come close (seriously, the Secret Service will be on you fast).

32. there's also the nazism, and quite a bit of it, someone (edit: philion) did an investigation and found a massive amount of nazi and white supremacist dogwhistles all over the BAYC and the ape designs, and even the creator's twitter names. the BAYC skull logo is a reference to the toten kopf, and has the same number of teeth which is a symbolic number and is laid out in exactly the same way as the waffen ss emblem. even Yuga labs is a reference to the kali yuga, which is another nazi meme about how the world as we know it is about to end and is filled with conflict and sin, and it is their job to spead the chaos further to bring about a race war/the end of the world as we know it and the building of a new world with the aryan race as the leaders. yes. its that batshit insane. really.

35. To dive a little more into the 'AI' issue, artificial intelligence has been around for decades. And has been in use for decades. Every website you've used with an auto answer bot, that's AI. Every video game enemy you've fought, that's AI. What's new is the algorithmic generation from a database. That's also not technically new, but has only gotten to a commercial standard in the last year or so. AI itself isn't bad, but AI algorithmic generation is prone to theft because of the people who make it and it poses a much more real threat to the people that get stolen from.
