  1. You're getting there! a couple of advice I've found useful during my 20 years of cat sailing when it comes to hoisting the main. When going to windward slowely use the engine controls only to adjust the the direction. Another way is to have more speed when hoisting thus make the helming easier and the sail will not go from side to side. Use bungees from the lazy jack lines to the shroud preventing the battens to get caugth in the lines.
Good luck on your adventures! As always looking forward the dry brith humour and Aussie sweetness.

  2. For raising the main, if you have the engines on and in gear, not reving, you should be able to put the autopilot into wind following head to wind. The prop wash forward should be enough to let the autopilot keep the angle without the boat really going anywhere. Et voila, you have an extra hand for sail handling.

  3. The smile per mile ratio is increasing, and that is a good thing. Happy you guys are getting settled. The boat is stunning, and I still can't get over those sails…what an incredible sight she is.

  4. 1. AP in wind mode set to zero AWA, making 2-3 knots

    2. Mainsheet completely loose (add some topping if you are raising to a reef)

    3. Pull the halyard by hand until clear of the lazy jacks

    4. Adjust the AP to be 5-8 degrees off the wind to whichever side puts the halyard on the opposite side of the topping lift (avoids chafe)

    5. Use the winch to raise the main the rest of the way

    6. Slack the topping lift

    7. Secure the mainsheet.

    Quick, calm, easy. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  5. I work with an orphanage and safe-house for street kids in Pattaya. If you ever want to visit them to see some amazing kids that will inspire you, let me know. Happy to set that up. If you'd be willing to donate your dentistry services, I know they'd be deeply grateful as well. Safe travels!

  6. I think we should collectively take a moment to appreciate camera moves for the footage we are getting. Blowing it out of the park as always you two. Thank you for taking all us subs along on your wonderful adventures. I really do appreciate you. 🎉❤

  7. LOL my best friend is from Thailand and said she’d be happy to help you with the pronunciation of the locations you visit while in Thailand. On a positive note I’m extremely happy to see you guys are enjoying your new boat. It’s beautiful. Reach out if you want her assistance. 😂

  8. My husband and I are staying on a beautiful beach in Mexico where lots of huge boats bring other tourists to spend the day at anchor just off the beach. Many of the boats are large catamarans and so I was thinking about you and Nick as well as the Wynns this week while on vacation.

  9. Fair winds from New Zealand. I'm circumnavigating on a Fountaine Pajot Saba 50 and am 17,000 nautical miles in…. Glad you joined the cat world! I'm predominately sailing solo and found that setting my autopilot to the apparent wind setting of 0 degrees and low rpm allows me to raise the main past the lazy jacks and I make a 5 degree adjustment to shift the main on either side of the topping lift (depending on the intended direction). Once the main has cleared the topping lift, I adjust the apparent wind direction back to 0 until the main is at the intended full position (depending on the desired reef). This helps tremendously especially sailing solo…..

  10. What a great catamaran – loving it more each time we watch.

Tereysa, you should get a sponsorship from an Aussie swimwear company – we do not see you enough in cosies and straw hats! ❤❤

  11. What's with these short form videos? We want a longer show filled with Tereysa's skills on camera and helm, and of course, Nick's witticisms and sailing insights. More, more, more! But far be it for me to tell you what to do, so you guys do you guys and leave us wanting more. It"s a good strategy, after all. Definitely like that you're both relaxing while sailing and anchoring. Well done!

  12. Why not use your autopilot and wind sensor when raising the main? The autopilot can hold your heading relative to the wind. And it does it better than we can. Worked a charm on our last charter cat.

  13. Hi Guys, I noticed you had the mainsheet tight when raising the mainsail, this makes it more tricky to hold it into the wind and not catch the lazy jacks on the battens. On my 1160 I loosen the mainsheet so the boom swings with the wind so it's easier to raise.

  14. The O'Kelly's just did a great video on moving to a performance cat and I wonder if some of the issues you've had reflect their comments. One issue for the viewers its a bit difficult to judge if all the challenges came in a week or reflect months of them. Glad its now settling down and you can enjoy the sailing element.

  15. Thank you for a very restful episode; it's great to see you working the kinks out and settling in!
Your shots of each other wielding cameras is insightful; it gives us a hint of how much work goes into filming–and how annoying it might get!

  16. Thank you for the update you guys control the timeline whenever no pressure it comes when it comes.Excellent improvement Terysa, letting yourself be in the moment and love your commentary with no pressured timelines even a dip nice.

  17. If you stow the main halyard in a nice circle it will always have twists in it. Holding it and making loops in your hand the line will hang in circle eights which eliminates the kinks. So I’ve been told and it seems to be true in practice. Cheers 🥂
