I’m going on my very first cruise April 14 with MSC! I’ve heard 2 main complaints from Americans and I feel both of them I’m fine with and it’s just a difference in culture.
1. They complain portion sizes are smaller. WHO CARES?? Since you can order 5 desserts does it really matter? Other countries aren’t used to seeing a mountainous plate of pasta in front of them.
2. Waiters/ busboys don’t kiss butt as much. It’s because Americans service people work for tips , and the level of service in the US is seen as fake in Europe.
The only complain i heard that was actually valid (but won’t bother me) is since there are quite a few countries onboard, they repeat safety stuff and announcements in Spanish, German etc. To that end, the entertainment shows can fall flat because they rely more on physical humour / entertainment, you won’t see an English comedy show etc. This is obviously on the UK part of MSC not the ships wthat just loop from Florida to the Caribbean
Yes, please. I will enjoy seeing another Amazon video. Some of the items you previously recommended, are in my wardrobe and must pack list. It also opened the way for discovering other like minded dresses and packing must haves.

I have not heard the best things about MSC. I am excited to hear your take. I would really like to know about smoking. I've heard there lot of European cruisers and a lot more smokers. A friend recently took a 7 day Caribbean cruise and she is super sensitive to smoke like I am, and she didn't like that aspect. She felt the smoke comes in from outdoors each time the doors open, and she couldn't enjoy her balcony due to to so much outdoor smoke. Also, I would like to know about the crowds. I believe the person to space ratio is high, meaning that it feels very crowded and there are long lines. I'm sure you will enjoy and make the best of it, but I look forward to your opinions.

My big concern about MSC is the food quality. While I am not that particular about food quality my wife is very much a foodie. We have read many negative reviews about the food. I look forward to your review.

Just took Seascape on that exact itinerary last month (in the YC). I liked it way more than expected. Pizza IS very good although I think Virgin edges them out. Service was great, ship was gorgeous, cabins were really nice – I saw a balcony cabin along the way. My main issue was the included food (buffet and even the YC reataurant) wasn’t not as good as many other lines. But the speciality dining was REALLy good. Sushi bar is super fun and is extra and not included in the specialty dining package but is fantastic. Steakhouse was great and my steak was perfectly cooked. The gelato/chocolate/coffee place Venchi is fantastic and costs extra. But other than the pizza and hamburgers and similar, the buffets weren’t that good. Ocean Cay was great – although I was in the YC area and it was quite windy that day. Service really was over the top. So I think you’ll like it. My favorite part of San Juan is the walking around to the forts etc and the downtown is really nice. Have a great cruise! Can’t wait for your impressions!
One thing about the specialty dining package is that you choose from a limited included menu but the restaurants have an extensive a la carte menu, which offers a lot more – the family next to me in the steakhouse ordered and shared a GIANT tomahawk chop that looked fab. When I go back I will skip the package and go a la carte. I had a long talk with a specialty dining manager who went into a lot of detail on MSCs investment in those venues. Big casino too. Entertainment was fun but it’s not Royal or Celebrity IMO. Ok I will stop now lol 🙂
Great choice of cruise line. We just got back from our MSC World Europa 2-3 months ago and we love that ship. The services are great and so is the food. Other than Royal Caribbean and princess, MSC would be our next choice. We will pick MSC over carnival and especially NCL. We never like NCL and will never cruise with them.

I’d love to know how MSC stacks up compared to Carnival. We have a medium sized group of adult family that travel together, ranging in age from 20 to 72 and some in between. Carnival ticks the budget boxes, but it’s been getting rowdy lately, so I’ve been considering a switch. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Hi Ilana. I just love your kitchen, so beautiful and thanks for sharing it❤. We have been cruising on MSC Sinfonia in 2017 and was stunning. Their food is awesome and attention to detail is amazing. We are going in September on MSC Preziosa which is apparentley also amazing, but from Hamburg. I read that the reason for their amazing food is because of the high skilled shefs, not saying other shefs from other cruise liners are not, which makes sense why their food are absolutley devine, the soft serve apparentley as well. You are just going to enjoy your MSC cruise.

The only bad thing I’ve heard about MSC is that they announce everything in 6 or 7 different languages, which means the loud speaker is always booming away. I’d like to hear your take on that and how annoying intimidate doesn’t bother you? Thanks for your videos! Very helpful.
On MSC, I would like to know if they nickle and dime you once onboard. I heard they charge extra for lunch i.e. soft serve ice cream. Also would like to know on the unlimited wifi package charge if its even worth it. Bon Voyage!
