as an American married to a Jamaican this video hits the nail on the head for us ! As we are refitting a sailboat in the States for a planned circumnavigation of the world , we have plans of stopping in our beloved Jamaica ! We had inquired around Kingston for her to take sailing lessons to no avail . We hear amongst the cruising community via social media the typical uneducated hysteria about safety in Jamaica. There is also a false narrative that due to it's proximity to Haiti and Cuba there is danger of pirates , which is a real & actual danger off the coast of some Central & South American countries . However with great videos like this we can help dispel these negative stereotypes ! . However the BIGGEST problem we hear from the "cruising" community is that the Jamaican Coast Guard is perhaps a bit overly aggressive with cruisers and fails to honor a single immigration check in at ONE port and forces sailors to repeatedly interrupt their travels by once again checking in at another port ! Most Sailing friendly Nations DO NOT DO THIS ! You will see this UNFORTUNTELY in multiple videos on the YouTube playlist we created – –

What a wonderful woman thank you Irina for this video. I wouldn't be that brave on the water because I fear water more than fire. As a child I thought the water was alive and coming after me, and to this day even to drive over the bridge I get shortness of breath 😂🤷🏾

Wow, your video quality is amazing!!! Love this lady, she is so sweet, most active 75 year old I've seen here in Jamaica. I agree that sailing should be more developed here. Many of us Jamaicans can't swim well, maybe we should start there…with swimming lessons. Great job! Loved this video. Can you do one on the sport of polo? We have overlooked activities here that can attract different types of people, plus locals as well.

All I can say is "inspiring"! I'm 73 and have loved the water all my life…lifeguarded, coached swimming, taught swimming, snorkeled and scuba dove…and she makes me feel like I've missed my biggest opportunities. I've always loved Jamaica and her people…great video, you had me hooked in the first second.
I enjoy many of your episodes. They are all relevant to the reality of Jamaica 🇯🇲…. However, this was clearly one of my favorite. This lady is amazing. Her education may be formal as well. However, i make that point to say it's clear her sense of adventure is due to her her insatiable curiosity and "can- do" indomitable attitude. She really is an example for anyone looking to venture out with any goal they may have in a new venture. Rolls with the punches sort of type. Can you please one day do another episode with her?
