Use spike for separating 3strand to splice lines.
When i first saw the knife i thought maybe it was a fishing knife to spike and end them mercifully and quick. The spike seemed too short and stubby tho. Now…i see why they were given to submariners and certain shipmates.
The spike has been useful when I got some line jammed in the winch. Can be very difficult to get out without it!
