  1. A year in the yard- appears to be well worth it! I love the repurposing of the 400 year old wood for the floors- glad to see the new owner kept them. It is a stunning ship. Would have loved to have seen it on the water with all the light. Streaming in, but maybe next time.

  2. Ruben's yacht looks stunning. I bet there are plrnty of Newsan foods stuff on that yacht also. Especially Patagonian Toothfish, which is xommonly known as 'Chilean Sea Bass'. Did you know that David? Taught you something new maybe. The owner elso is the largest exporter of South American Honey.

  3. I belly laughed at the remark that the weigh scale aught be removed. For sure, were I chartering a yacht, watching my weight on board would be the furthest thing from my mind. Of course, the owner might disagree; for him, it is a lifestyle, not a special excursion.

  4. Apart from the unabashed luxury and elegance of design, "Carinthia Vll",was also famous for her abilities, with a top speed approaching 25 knots, I believe.
The original owner was I think, an Austrian lady "Heidi Horten", a supermarket heiress and serial, yacht owner all named "Carinthia". One assumes that she also had a sizeable family and circle of friends. Beautiful and glamorous but just too big for me personally, even if in my wildest dreams, I could afford to charter her…

  5. I've seen her yeas and years and years on the same place in Port Vauban on the Quai des Milliardaires in Antibes. She belonged to Heidi Horten who was a widow of the billionaire Helmut Horten and Wikipedia describes him as someone who made his capital during Nazi era with buying businesses of killed or repressed Jews. So the family has this specific smell. Heidi died in 2022 and I guess the ones who got the heritage wanted to sell the yacht immediately .
Following Horten's death, her jewellery collection was being auctioned by Christie's in May 2023.
The auction set a record for the most valuable single collection of jewels, fetching CHF 180 million (US$201 million).
Following controversy over the source of the Horten fortune, Christie's announced that a portion of the proceeds would be contributed to Holocaust education and related causes. On 31 August 2023, Christie's cancelled the auction entirely after Jewish charities and organisations refused to accept any monies related to the sale.
