  1. Thank you so much for watching this episode! In last week's episode we discussed the entire shipping process in our usual chaotic way, and part of that discussion was about the rust stains, so go give it a watch for some more context: https://youtu.be/SrbyJQpIe78?si=bSM1a2sluLecYxNn The 'Shipping vs Sailing' episode was filmed several weeks after we got to Marmaris, so we had the benefit of hindsight 🙂
Meanwhile, how nice is Turkiye!? We're SO glad to be here!

  2. Why are you putting an ocean going cat on a ship instead of sailing the thing to where you're going? If you're gonna ship it around the world you may as well just hire cats in the destinations you want to go

  3. Have you tried an iron decontamination spray? That’s what that stuff does. Bowden’s own three way for example ?

  4. Good luck with the rust. I know this won't be what you want to read BUT I was sailing a charter boat this summer which had lots of rust marks due to a numpty doing angle grinding onboard in the past: it had been repeatedly treated with oxalic acid but unless you can get rid of the iron itself (which you won't be able to) the rust always comes back.

  5. Hi – well the three in the overly friendly boat were fellow Aussies, my husband Mick from SV Kirrikie with Chris and Sonia from SV Cut and Run. So pleased to see you had arrived in Marmaris at last 😊. They totally understood you would have had a lot to sort out, so no worries. (I was back in Perth, Oz , so bummed.😅). Really enjoyed your last episode expalining the decision to ship – if you can do it, why not in these troubling times?. Hope the insurance etc has all been sorted now. Fair winds…

  6. Welcome to Turkiye 🙂 Captain Cousteau has called Gokova area "heaven on earth". Ofcourse it was 1980's and capitalism was not so harsh on earth 🙂 And çupra is a delicious fish its English is luderick I think. Goes fine with Turkish Rakı 🙂

  7. Can you please talk about the build of new boats 🚢. It scares me that people are putting families 👪 in danger over money 💰 🤑. I would not buy one because the build quality is not up to power. Sorry for going off, but I think you are good people, and people will take notes. Thank you for all of the information you give to us it helps a lot of people. Even the maps should be there and easy to download it a safe thing. I hope you and your family have a good week.

  8. Such an interesting experience . I hope you enjoy the eastern med.
Did other boats on ship, have same issue with stains?
    Was anybody shrink wrapped?
    Cheers warren

  9. What actually broke mic wise, the shotgun or the camera adapter? What was the brand/model? I may just have something in my kit of gear from my video production days (I’m a retired television cameraman/editor/director from Sydney).

  10. That's most likely weld spatter(could be grinder too), they likely welded or cut some thing upwind of your boat, maybe some bespoke brackets for lashing etc for other project cargo which likely got stuck to the finish of your boat on impact due to the heat and the epoxy surface/finish. While the spatter can potentially come off with some rubbing, (any spatter left behind will keep rusting even after your first oxalic acid clean) the surface will have micro indents. The boats finishing likely needs a buffing of sorts to bring back the smooth surface that will help drain seawater/spray etc. Btw Oxalic acid can be corrosive so please check if your finish csn take it. I'd also see if the antifouling is intact. A small micro spot is all sea creatures need.Hope it helps.

  11. Thank you both for your mutual respect and love for each other which is always on full display in your videos. Life is a challenge and sometimes goes sour; but, being with a soulmate and uplifting, unconditional friend makes life worth living. You two rock!!

  12. Someone used an angle grinder near my van. The hot particles of metal melted into the glass and then rusted. Sounds like the same thing.

  13. Thank yo God you made it to the Med ! I gue syou won't be berthing anywhere considering the prices to berth let alone a Cat
