#vg2024 #imoca #vendeeglobe #sailing

  1. You are my daily "go to" channel, which keeps me in the loop on VG fleet progress with snippets from individual sailors. ❤ it!!! With presently sunny greetings and warm regards from Germany.

  2. Great update but…….
Why the continual reference to pressure rather than wind? More often than not low (atmospheric) pressure will be associated with stronger winds and vice versa.

  3. As comparison:
Flying Cloud holds the record for the fastest 24-hour run by a clipper ship, sailing 374 miles in one day on July 31, 1851, which is over 15.5 miles per hour.
Sovereign of the Seas was the first ship to travel more than 400 nautical miles (740 kilometers) in 24 hours in 1854.
Sovereign of the Seas recorded the fastest speed for a large wooden sailing ship, logging 22 knots (41 km/h) in 1854.
Can you imagine the noise from the wind, waves, cracking wood and flapping sails on board those wooden giants.

  4. Weather forecast is not correct
This lows are moving faster than the boats to the east.
There’s no lighter pressure before Cape Town. And then stronger at cape town.

  5. Tough living cinditions. Fluctuating wind speeds, mixed sea state, fast, relentless pounding, difficult to sleep, chasing the next low.
