  1. The yacht Moquini was recovered in February 2006 after going missing during a yacht race from Mauritius to Durban in September 2005 and found drifting upside down with missing keel Feb 2006 .

The salvage tug Smit Amandla found the yacht's upturned hull about 500 nautical miles east of the Wild Coast. The mast was removed and making use of inflatable tanks and the yacht was toed back to Durban South Africa .

Would it not make sense to remove the mast first ?

  2. Thank you for this update re the Bayesian. I cant see it as a mystery really.
Badly designed, horrific storm/downburst. Thats it really…

  3. Thank you E Sysman for correctly describing the loss of the "Bayesian" vessel as an "incident", and pointing out that it cannot, for the time being at least, be properly termed an "accident". The situation could also be correctly referred to as a "mishap", which is how it would be described in most Military environments, but legally the word "accident" is reserved only for "something that happened other than on purpose". The Italian Courts support this definition, at least in principle. Once the yacht is raised and thoroughly inspected by Independent Qualified Professional Experts, and the Proven Cause or Causes of the tragedy is or are unequivocally established, then the appropriate description of the event may change. Current allegations and counter-allegations should not be taken seriously since these are predictably common in the Italian culture, and are promoted by Advocates for the insurers, the boatbuilders, the Crew and any other parties who stand to lose money and reputation if the Civil Court Verdict finds them accountable for any or all of the Losses, Costs, Damages, Fees and other Penalties awarded. There is also, of course, the possibility that Criminal Charges could be laid against any person, business or other entity that may in due course be alleged to have had ulterior motives, or was to some degree negligent, reckless or unprofessional in a manner which directly or indirectly caused or exacerbated the propensity of the boat to sink other than in a genuinely "accidental" manner.

However, once the investigation is completed and the responsibility for the sinking begins to become more obvious, I would expect the parties who face possible Prosecution to tactically modify their positions in an effort to mitigate the magnitude of their Liabilities. This could take a considerable time, and the gloves may really come off if sizeable Financial Penalties and spells of Incarceration are on the line. the Sicilian Mafia will of course make their percentage, as they can be relied upon to do in every high-profile case in that part of the world.

  4. Hang on you mentioned an investigation into the deaths of … and then you listed 6 people none of whom were the crew. I thought there was one member of the crew who also died.

It's not the rich people who died and need an investigation into why they died.

  5. I think the major reason that they wont pump the fuel out is because its in well sealed fuel tanks which are not leaking at the moment nor should leak so leave well alone.

  6. As stated answers to some of the questions are known. But on the sea door, how does one know that the CEO of TISG keeps his side of the story real, by informing the divers to move the door to the position that suits his theory?

  7. Does anyone know what’s onboard this vessel that they’re so keen to get hold of as to justify dragging what’s likely to be just scrap off the bottom?

  8. The personal locator beacon was obviously not working or perhaps he was eaten by sharks and the beacon swallowed or dropped to sea bed. I would imagine an alarm goes off if personal beacon moves away from the yacht? Wonder was he wearing a safety harness, was it night or day?

  9. Great content, as always.

I have one additional comment on your studio setup. You are seated just a little too far to one side, and the overall visual balance feels off from a design/balance perspective). Just a constructive critique–take it or leave it.😎

  10. Should not anyone crossing the ocean, always wear a lifejacket went on deck since they are now so minimal and attached to that life jacket would be a small EPIRB which only cost a couple of hundred dollars . And usually also contain a strobe light, even if you don’t wear a life jacket having that attached to your belt could be and probably would be a lifesaver. I don’t understand the lack of attention to safety on small boats in the middle of the ocean.

  11. I thought that during one of the dives that I watched on this channel, it was seen that the shell door was closed. Is they question whether it looked closed because of the affect of the water or sinking?

  12. There must be a law that force this multi millionaire society to rescue their yacht … immagine oil fuel batteries… we must preserve the sea or became dirty like in UAE

  13. Is there a reason why sailors on these races don't have some kind satellite bacons on their lifejackets? The the scheme of things it can't be that expense to have that kind of technology.

  14. I'm guessing that they have decided to leave the fuel in Bayesian aboard because if none has spilt out yet then it is best to leave it undisturbed. The tanks are clearly keeping it from escaping, so just leave it there until she is at least at the surface, then it can be pumped out of deck level fillers.

  15. Some mysterious are staged to remain…

Investing one million USD to have the well doors opened at the bottom of the sea – say by special forces that don't answer to civilian courts – can save all insurance payout while someone, never proven to be guilty beyond doubt goes to jail…
