After watching the news about all the oil they dumped into the Black Sea running shotty old river tankers out on rough waters, I'm quite fine with western shipyards servicing their tanker fleet since they can't seem to get out of their own way to keep anything up to spec. It's either we do it or it ends up blobs of oil in our waters. That's just avoiding an own goal.

  3. When will people understand that money always wins! Money makes more money from war. Look at the last 150 years. Limiting availability of trade by sanctions merely gives opportunity for making yet more money. People might not like it but that is how the world works.

  4. Just because something is legal you dont have to do it, DAMEN is at fault that the war in ukraine continues and the russians still can finance it. Weather they can live with that fault i dont know, but it looks like none of the company cares for morale, but thats nothing new.

    And trying to cover their friends rear, makes them all guilty. It's not the death, but the first rule is, You assist any vessel in distress. Knowingly wrecking a vessel and leaving them on their own is an act of pure evil.

  6. Damen seems to be complicit in funding the Russian war effort in Ukraine. Not a good look, but what do you expect from a company that hides under tables?

  7. Perhaps the people who are complaining about Damien should ask why the EU commission wants to ensure that EU citizens pay the highest amount for fossil fuels.

  8. I live 5 min away from the head office and main shipyard of Damen, They do a lot of business with Russia by using loopholes. They told the government if they were shut down they would not build the navy ships that are ordered by or government, and would leave or country making a couple thousand people jobless just in my area. (This info comes from inside the companies office)

  9. I wonder is there anti collision software built into those large motor yachts that not only set off an alarm but actually physically stops the boat, similar to what you can now get in some cars?

  10. This crowd we know the name who provide services to these Shadow Fleet vessels controlled by Russia should examine their ethics. They may not be breaking any law technically but is it the right thing to do ethically?

  11. imagine your father has a Riva and let you drive it but you end up killing some random fisherman, try to escape, hide the proof and get caught… That's a downfall…

  12. One huge oil export channel is via the black sea. The Volga river is connected to Sea of Azov via Don River/canal. Volgae riveris navigable between Caspian Sea and St Petersburg/Baltic Sea. Huge number of river tankers navigate to distribute oil through Riussia, but also large number wwent to the Sea of Azov to transfer oil to large internation tankers to for delivery aoriund the world. From Sea of Azov, go under Kerch bridge to Balck sea, then onto Meditéranean. This is one of the big reasons Russia wants Ukraine so it can protect sea of Azov. Because of war, they starte dto take their reiver tankers to Black Sea where exchange was done, and recently, waves of black sea broke 3 of those river tankers (not designed for Black Sea) generating huge spills.
