  1. Great concept, pushing boundaries which is good to see. Pretty ugly though – if they did a re-design on the cabin top and windscreens they might be able to make it more appealing

  2. Interesting concept but i think it would have limited appeal. I think a three cabin would suffice and maybe it would make them a bit bigger.

  3. As a private owner/user, I'd want a swim/dingy platform, double the fuel capacity, one size bigger electric motors, a bigger generator (or a second 22kW) and make it 3 bedroom with the master having a separate shower.

  4. Island cruising, I could see this as a Caribbean or inland water way in the US. With the captain cabin a charter boat? Or a live on all the time boat/boat house? Sociable party Boat.
I'm sure Benateau will tweek her again and again until they are happy with her- a sellable boat. Interesting.

  5. That is atrocious all around. Where do you start? 2 of the larger staterooms you hit your head if you sit up. Total lack of respect to your crew space. You can sit on the toilet and reach out to give you bunky a handjob. No swim platform to keep the slashing away from the living space. One cannonball and you've soaked the living area. Don't see it doing well.

  6. What a dumb idea. Might as well just use the solar panels for electrification alone, while using diesel motors for higher speed and range, as opposed to using diesel generators to power the slow electric motors.

  7. What are feet?
I watch non-American channels so I don't have to try to convert silly imperial units. (And to reduce my overall US exposure) And I still cop them anyway. I thought UK went metric the same era that we did in Australia?

  8. Very stop start way of talking, almost like you are running and out of breath. Hope the lungs are ok mate but so hard to listen to.

  9. Thanks Hugo…..but no thanks. Everyone has a different taste but that for me leaves a bad taste. To me, it’s the worse boat you have ever featured. An April 1st episode??????
You did your very best sir, thank you for sharing…….I think !

  10. Not my boat. I want to sail from Italy/France to Corse or Sardinia in a few hours of daylight and no refuelling. But I believe that, for chartering in some densely touristic areas, with short legs between stops, could be a very interesting solution. Looks very easy and cheap to service, providing a 4 cabin 45 footer without the cost and maintenance of 2 big diesels and powertrains (IPS or else). Having the propellers so widely aside will give great manouverability even with standard control technicques. No need for a bow thruster, at all, for an experienced helmsman

  11. Main cabin is terrific, lower accommodation deck would be improved with one less stateroom and two big heads with separate showers. Not a fan of the electric drives, but two smallish diesels, maybe on sail drives providing 200 mile range at 7 knots would be fine.

  12. This is outstanding, however, create 2 x bathroom with separate showers. I love the big kitchen and space. I would buy this if i had the cash. Make sure some charging for sea bobs. Who cares about the beauty, it travels far, it travels cheaply and quietly. Plus loafs of sleeping.

  13. I love this boat. I can't sail something this big, but I want a sustainable solution that serves as a floating villa. This seems perfect. My question is: will it really retail for under $500K? I love how many beths and heads have been incorporated. It's really quite perfect for a family and extended family.

  14. It'd be well suited to the Murray River in Australia. Like others, I would prefer it with an owners suite up front, large shower/head… Nice concept..

  15. Similar to what Greenline created 25 years ago. I love the concept of low drag hull with solar propulsion. However the 10% price premium over diesel with its obvious limitations just doesn’t make any sense. One day when the technology evolves it will make sense, but not now.

  16. Remind me of a large jumbo pontoon boat for day cruising. I find several problems; too many small cabins, no privacy in port, minimal weather protection, questionable deck furniture without storage. All those aspects could be rectified, and then it would be a much better concept.

  17. Would like to see a version fitted out for a cruising couple. Solar and battery tech are getting close to the point where the all-electric, solar-powered world cruiser is within reach.

  18. The under hull is very similar to the Cousteau Alcyone. The overall architectural layout is very similar to a sailboat design I sketched up. I'm kind of into it. I will say 7-9kt is too slow as a max. I wouldn't want to make this much of an investment in a power boat and not be able to go faster than a low performance sailer. Lot of potential here though as a "form factor" if you will.

  19. Beneteau, I’m shocked. The future is becoming real. Solar! Wow! Considering tomorrow, this is an important step. I read the EU plans to end ICE engines in 2035, this could be beneteau thinking ahead of most boats. Add fold up/down solar wings at the roof level like the folding platforms at the deck level, and solar recharging is greater plus provided shading. Folding panels down provides weather protection and privacy. Folding solar panels up while moored, anchored, at marina get recharged. Mosquito screens instead of plastic sides is more practical. 3 berths, 2 heads with dry showers. Should be classed B. Now one last personal problem, I can’t afford 540k €, maybe 400.

  20. Interesting hull idea, but Beneteau always makes their interior look and feel as cheap as possible. At this price point there are significantly better options.
