5. It's extraordinary how at odds the various stories regarding the submarine have been compared to what happened (the exact cause to be determined).
   Initial stories said that it had hit a reef, clearly nonsense, also that it was at depth.
   Obviously it was preparing for an excursion and it began to submerge with the hatches open. Why that wasn't made immediately known is bewildering.

The merchant ship's collision reminds me of the Moby Prince incident, when a ferry exiting the port of Livorno crashed head-on with a tanker at anchor just off shore, killing all the passengers on board + the crew, except for one lone sailor who jumped in the water (he didn't follow the order to gather inside). The rest, all burned alive. How can you not see and go straight into a tanker, you might ask? I don't know, there are no survivors to tell the story; the only thing we know is that there was an important football match on TV at the time of the incident. They told us there was a thick fog hovering, but that turned out to be a lie. Italy, 1991.

We all know about the "swiss cheese" model where bunch of factors line up to cause disaster- but im genuinely shocked when the opposite "throwing rock at a glass window" occurs..so exactly the thing everyone KNOWS is the highest risk & occurs at the most obvious time causes the disaster. ( like leaving bow door open on a car ferry 😢)…takes a special kind of negligence or stupid not to have robust safeties & redundancies to allow for this stuff to happen 😠.

21. A submarine is known also as a submersible because, with the hatches closed, it can safely submerge.Submersing is also known as diving. When they “sink” that would be like a ship sinking, in other words, an accident. I’m amazed that so many people survived with water coming in the hatches.

    I think having two hatches is a big advantage. With one hatch the current coming through the hatch would be overwhelming. With two there would be half as much current compared to one. Plus twice as many exits. It just seems amazing that somehow they got off this thing in an orderly manner. You would think some people would panic, and drown the person between them and the hatch. It’s a miracle that as many survived. I’m sorry for the Russians and their families.
