yes Arctic ice fluctuates a lot over geologic time, and there have been periodic examples of a completely ice-free Arctic over the last 350,000 years. But at least some amount of year-round Arctic ice cover developed around 5,000 years ago and has been with us ever since.

Love the coat hanger tip Tom, I've carried several over the years in the cars that I've had. Once used one on the hard shoulder of the M25 to fix and hold up a dodgy exhaust box (a frightening experience) but, it got me home.
I love the Idea. Buuutttt… What happens if she can't make it because there's too much ice 😅
Will the example be used to "prove" the ice in the arctic is fine?

Brilliant video. Great interviewing. Amazing boat set up by an amazing woman with an amazing ambition. I was so touched by the hug at the end that I shed a tear. Here are two people who's technical and cultural experience are set worlds apart by the age gap of a few decades, and yet their shared passion and human decency bring them together in an inspirational way.
