The words "Sailing" and "ICW" DO NOT belong in the same sentence. Guarantee if see someones sails out on the ICW, they have no access to youtube. If they did, they would know why the rest world is motoring it.
Never been down the icw but heard stories. How much worse is it to sail open waters instead of icw?

Looks like a busy hurricane season this year. Be safe. 🐢
What a time – thanks for sharing. Hard to believe someone on the crew tried to flush wipes! And from my 9 years of living in nearby Chesapeake, it is pronounced "Norfukk" (polite spelling mode enabled).
Direct shameless question: if you can not throw wipes in the toilet… how do you wipe your butt? What do you do with the wipes after that?
Hell, our condo association keeps reminding people not to flush wipes. Seem that even the 10 hp electric pump that 'lifts' some of the sewage up to the city lines keeps getting clogged. Cannot image how they would get through that opening and if they did how they would clear the black water tank (if there was one)
Got a question for you Mr. Horsehead Chris
When you captain a vessel to bring to a port for a client. Do you take the captain's room even if they are on board? Is that a rule that you captain it so you get the captains room or you get to choose your room or is a discussion point. What are some of the hard and fast rules of you "captaining a vessel for someone"?
Lol…"hate it"!! Now you see how i felt bringing ours down 😂
A nice adventure
Pepperoni and pineapple is the best! I love the sweet and savory together, my favorite x2
I also hate the ICW. Takes forever and the crab pots and shoals are everywhere.
So the deal with the wipes killed the come along adventure package ?
I haven't even taken my boat out of Barnegat Bay yet, and I already hate the ICW. I hear there are some nice bits- cool places to visit, the Dismal Swamp Canal, a few open stretches where you can actually sail… but my research leads me to "meh".
Dislike because of bridges or boat traffic? I was thinking it would be fun to check out the towns on the way like RVing…but with a timeline sounds like could be annoying.
Pineapples on a pizza!//! Shame on you! hahaha
You mentioned in the video that the Gemini was not a Cape Hatteras Boat. Please explain briefly why this is the case. Thanks much!
How long does this whole journey take?
I have come to HATE the ICW on my 41' sailboat. The boat needs 4.5' of draft, minimum. Unofrtunately, the sides of the channels are not tapered so much as vertical. Trying get enough space with tugs pushing two barges just cuts it too close and end result is is running aground way too often on the starboard side while showing ample depth on port.
At this point, whenever possible, I go offshore to avoid the peril and hazards of lousy nav markers and unreliable charts.
So the Gemini should not go beyond the icw?
That translucent brown water isn't so much polluted as gourmet dosed with tannin, a desirable element of red wine and I guess tea. Water leaches tannin from forest bark and maybe roots.
